I have just returned for the Crown. I also sailed her last sept. The Crown will be sailing out on Flordia. I guess next year Princess with send over the caribbean for the spring and summer. Now i love children but in in summer months most ships are overrun with children and I am trying to get away from all of that.

I wish they would have the fall sailings again. I am spoiled by Princess. It was a wonderful cruise in every way.

I am seeing less ships sailing out of the east lately. Ncl has pulled ships out and Princess is shortening their stays. I do not know why because both times I have sailed princess in the fall, their ships were fill to the max.

Anyone have any thoughts.

I agree.  I wish Princess would have more offerings for the Caribbean in the summer & fall, too, but the fact is that the Alaska & Europe cruises are much more profitable for them than the Caribbean.

How did you like the Crown?  We'll be on her in seven weeks!

I agree. Rich, when I get time I am going to do a comparative review on RCI, NCL, and Princess (Crown). We loved the Crown:big grin: better then NCL.

We loved the crown. We usually sail NCl and I enjoy NcL but the Crown really spoiled me in all deptartments.

I know food is subjective, but if you like seafood it was tops. I have to admit, I went to dinner early in the dinning room and then later in the night went up to the buffet and sampled somemore. There was a great selection of everything. The bread was the best. The desserts were great.  The service was in most part good.  the only thing about the food was the lobster tails at the dinning room were very small and not much meat. Last year they were much better. But we still got our fill  at the buffet

The ship was beauitful. Love the muts were we watch a football game. The entertainment was great. Went to the hypnostist show. He was good. Went to the clubs and enjoyed all they had to offer. We did our share of dancing.

Casino was good to me for a change. It was not last year. It could get crowed in there.

WE met some  nice couples who we enjoy eating with a couple of nights and enjoyed their company. It was a great cruise in everyway.

Ok you really got me going. Wish I were going back. You will enjoy the Crown.

I hate to fly so wishing I am wishing the crown would return.

I feel the same way...that's why we don't cruise in the summer or on holiday sailings. And I wish the more of the lines would have more east-coast departures, too. Norfolk, Va or Charleston, SC or Jacksonville, Fla would be really convenient for me to be able to drive to the port city.

Didn't Norfolk recently invest a LOT of money on expanding/enhancing their passenger cruise terminal? I would hope that would attract more ships to Norfolk. That would be a great place for me to cruise out of with my mom.

Tigerlily, we LOVED the Crown, too! It's hard not to compare everything since then to the Crown. I explain its ambiance as "casual elegant," which was just right for us. We're not planning to do Princess again until 2009, though. :moping:

Hopefully Princess will sail out of Norfolk after fixing the terminal. It is hard not to compare. I am hoping that the crown will return to the north east.

Caribbean Princess next year out of NY in April and May, one 7 day repo in late October and the Sea Princess has a 9 day repo late october.

Baltimore also spent alot of money trying to attract cruise lines but that didn't seem to work real well either.  Celebrity had some great 10 - 11 day itineraries they have since been replaced by Royal 9 days.

You mean RCCL does 9-day cruises out of Baltimore?

What's the deal with Baltimore? It seems like RCCL and NCL are doing hand-offs next year. First Grandeur of the Seas is going to be sailing out of Baltimore, then it goes somewhere else and Norwegian Majesty takes over, then she leaves and the Grandeur comes back. This still leaves only one ship going out of Balto at any given time. It almost seems like RCCL and NCL got together and planned this... just to manage capacity out of Baltimore???

Eyup. Mom's done Grandeur twice (one 5-day to Bermuda and another 9-day Caribbean) and LOVES it. I've told her she really needs to try something besides RCCL -- she's done Freedom, too -- but won't seem to consider it. She must be a RCCL :cheer::big grin:

Marie-we loved the Crown too and really wish Princess would do some late spring or fall sailings from NYC to the Caribbean.I agree with the kid thing-that is why we don't want to sail in the summer.Even the first part of Sept was earlier than we would have liked.Up here in the northeast it hit 92 today.Broke a record that was set in 1908!

It is really hot here to.

Sailing on Sept 6 was earlier than we liked to.   We usually sail the end of Sept or the begining of Oct. I am hoping that in the she will come back this way in the future. YOu never know things may change.  We really love Princess. I will be sailing the Ncl gem in feb and looking for a cruise next fall.  there is not too much to pick from around here.
