We are looking to book the Tahitian Princess next year for Polynesia. We would love to try the Paul Gauguin but it is way over our budget. We are a little leary of ship size (although we have been on the NCL Dream and loved her). How is the dining on this ship? Are the excursions well planned? Are the staterooms comparable to the other princess ships?
Thanks in advance for your help.

| Karen, we don't have a lot of Princess cruisers here. My own experience is limited to the Grand and the Dawn.

Ah....thanks for the tip. Maybe they'll come over like the NCL board has. Well, I guess we'll just have to test the waters and cruise the TP and report back to this board then. Dont' miund "sacrificing" for the greater good-hehe

We were on the Tahitian Princess back in 2005. So far out of 12 cruises it was our favorite. We loved it so much that we are going back in Feb/08. I was also a bit reluctant because of the size but she is a beautiful ship. She is a former Renaissance ship so the layout is different than the other Princess ships. With their only being 688 passengers you seem to meet and run into people more often. The dining was just as wonderful IMO. We did a few excursions through Princess and most I had planned myself (esp. diving)....all were wonderful.
If you are planning to go next year, remember.....the TP is only in the FP til May and then again for only 7-10day round trip out of Papeete from Sept to Dec.
It truly is a wonderful cruise

I understand what a supreme sacrifice it will be. LOL!!!!!! I'm sure you'll have a blast!

Looks like we will be doing Regent's Paul Gauguin, since we really want to go during the summer. The weather is supposed to be the best. I hate not sailng Princess for this but there are no ships then. Going to have to work overtime to pay for it though $$$ ouch

One of our members, Southpaw, has sailed on the Paul Gaughin. She loved it!!! I'll see if I can get in touch with her, so she can tell you all about it!

Thanks! Learning the ins and outs of a new cruiseline is a bit confusing!
Hey Catnip, where are you from in NC? My mom's family was from Thomasville and Lenoir.

Lenior County? We are right next to Lenior County. I live in a small, rural town called Goldsboro, in the eastern part of the state. Between Raleigh and the coast.
Where are you in Utah? We go to Deer Valley skiing every March! We've been going there for 17 years----we love the Park City area.

We live in North Orem right next to the mouth of Provo Canyon. My husband gets a weekday pass to Sundance ski resort every year andtakes a long lunch (2 hours) to go skiing twice a week. It's only about 15 minutes from us.
Yea, my moms family (Allreds) were farmers back to the 1700's in North Carolina. Most Allreds supposedly all came from 3 brothers who settled in North Carolina. All of NC is beautiful.

| We loved the Tahitian. it's a really small ship and they don't have personal choice dining. Tahiti was one of the best cruises we've been on.

That would make it very attractive to me. I don't care for the anytime/personal choice dining. And I prefer the smaller ships!
