I'm leaving on the Dream tomorrow and again have decided that if can get at a computer I'm going to post over here. I'm going with my in laws so if I post and it doesn't make any sense it's because I will be drinking heavily
But I am curious to see if all the service issues people are complaining about have been resolved.

If I were traveling with my inlaws, I'd be drinking heavily too! Have a great time!

My first cruise was with my inlaws. I don't remember it.

| Perhaps we can all pitch in to buy you an extra bar setup? May the liquor be with you...

I'm glad to hear you didn't experience the service issues that other people are complaining about. It sounds like you had a great time. I will too. It's a pretty decent sized ship. I'm sure there's somewhere I can go where they can't find me (but I'm sure I'll be able to hear them yelling and screaming at each other)

| I was on the Dreams sister ship the Wind back in 2004. It's a nice sized ship for the amount of people she holds. We had a really nice time. Enjoy the aft pool and the swimup bar!! Those are two things I really miss in the new NCL ships.

This cruise is starting out better than I could ever have hoped and I haven't even left the house yet. I've just been notified that my DS who will be attending college in the fall has recieved a state grant that will cover most of his tuition. YIPPEE I think we should have no problem coming up with the rest and he won't even have to take out a loan. At least not for this year. I am very relieved.

Congrats to your son! Congrats to me!! He wasn't even concerned about how his tuition was going to be paid. His attitude was "it will get paid some how or I'll join the Marines"

You know what the difference is between sailing out of NYC and sailing out of Boston? It's 6:50 am and I just rolled out of bed. If I were sailing out of NYC I would have been on the road for about an hour now. I just checked the webcam and my ship is in. I have nothing to do now but wait (and get the kids out of bed )

Yes I do. We are leaving on Tuesday, the day before so we do not have to rush so much.
I am really glad to be leaving out of Boston next August. The 30 minute ride will be great. We are less than a year away from that cruise and you are coming on that one!

Hello from sunny St. George. I wish I could say everything is perfect but it isn't. The weather is perfect though. This ship definately has it's issues. For instance I asked for ice upon boarding and got it. TODAY. Cabin stewards are very sweet. Just over worked. The food has been very good so far.
My in laws (of all people) have a continuing problem of something that looks like it belongs in the toilet backing up into thier shower. It smells really bad in the hallways sometimes. I have brought this to the attention of the hotel director and I think they are doing everything possible to try to fix it but in the mean time my in laws have no bathroom. The ship is sold out so they were told they couldn't switch cabins. I don't know what else to tell them to do other than shower in the fitness center. But \I'M having fun none the less. I'm running out of time. \i'll check back later.

Glad to hear you're having a good time, but sorry to hear about the issues your in-laws are having -- what deck are they on? We experienced none of this when we sailed in July. About the only minor issue we had was our stateroom never seem to get "cool" enough -- for me, anyway...
Is Derrick Van Der Nest still the HD?
What cabin are you in? We had great cabin stewards on deck 8 -- there was a note in our stateroom saying they would not automatically refill our ice bucket unless we requested it, but we ran into Eduardo and Romeo the first day, told them we wanted ice twice a day, and it was done. Of course a well placed twenty helps...

Hi Joanne,
Glad to hear you are having a good time and sorry to hear about the problems the in-laws are having, Hope they aren't blaming you for it
If you get to the swim up bar, say hi to Jesse( the bartender) for us, Kathy and Paul. Remind him we were on the Dream's next to the last cruise. Not that he will remember us but it would be a test...maybe you could win a free beer if he could describe Tom
Have a great rest of the cruise!!!

| Hi, I'm home. This was actually not a bad cruise. The in-laws were on their best behavior and everyone had a good time. I'll write more later but first I have to attack this mountain of laundry.

Well, the cruise itself was good. The weather was fantastic and the food was really good. Some of the entertainment was really good too. But the ship had a very strong odor in some of the hallways. It smelled gross. We had a problem with our toilet not flushing one day (it was fixed right away) and yellowish-brown tap water that smelled more like toilet water..
Now for my in-laws, some of you have sailed with SIL and know how she is. The first night on the ship she went into the bathroom and stepped in what look like the toilet had over flowed. It was actually a back up in the shower. They called down to reception and had repairman after repairman try to figure out what was causing the problem. The in-laws begged for another room at least for the night so they could get some sleep. They were told the ship was sold out and nothing was available. At about 3:00am they were told that the problem was fixed and they should be ok. Well, the next morning (or later that same day) SIL was in the shower and it happened again!! All brownish-black stuff started oozing into the shower from the drain. Again they called reception and again repairman after repairman kept coming into the cabin. At this point SIL had been awake for almost 2 days. She was not happy. I went to the DS gathering and spoke to the hotel director. He took down the room # and picked up the phone, telling me it would be taken care of right away. Well, no luck. It just kept happening. The in-laws went to reception and begged and pleaded for some place else to go and were told the same thing "nothing available" They were told they could shower in the fitness center. The next day we were all at the pool and another couple mentioned they had the same problem earlier that day and were moved to a suite.lol For 3 days my in-laws were complaining about this situation and this other couple were given a new cabin the first time it happened.
Well, the in-laws had to live without a bathroom until Friday. Finally something opened up on the 7th floor. For compensation they were first sent a bottle of wine and some crackers.lol Then a 100$ on-board credit. Neither of which were sufficient. BIL thinks he's going to call his credit card company and have the whole cruise taken off his bill. I told him good luck with that one. But I do think he needs to write a letter to Miami and tell them what happened and request REASONABLE compensation.
Other than that it really was a good cruise. SIL was so consumed with her real problem she didn't have to time or energy to be a BITCH. My 85 yo MIL had the time of her life. She loved everything. DH, myself and the two kids had a great time together. DH and DS went jet-skiing while DD and I shopped. We all went to Horseshoe Bay and the next day went to Tobacco Bay. (although I did miss the fools ) The ship sailed at full capacity with over 2000 passengers so it was crowded with tons of kids but they were all well behaved for the most part. We got to skip the life boat drill because of a severe thunder storm We had a pretend one in our cabins. So I think we got what we paid for. I knew going into this that the Dream was not the Dawn or Gem but it did have it's own charm. Lots of deck space and quiet corners so I felt like I could get away from everything. If anyone has any questions ask away.
