I mosied over to the DS for a bit of "entertainment." Actually, I was bored and just thought there might actually be something interesting in a helpful sort of way. But

There's a thread talking about VIP theater seating and some of the suite perks were mentioned. My God, the OP (who is a first-time cruiser and not in a suite) did that whole self-righteous thing about that's awful that there's a "Class System"! And why should they get treated like 4th-class citizens just because they "only" have a balcony cabin! And blah-bitch-whine-blah. And they may never cruise with NCL again if they're not treated with the same respect as everyone else! Maybe not ever cruise again, PERIOD!

blah-bitch-whine-blah

WHY DO I TORMENT MYSELF BY GOING OVER THERE. I must need therapy. Or maybe it's just a streak of masochism I wasn't aware of...

Just read the whole thread over there...a couple of weeks ago was a better thread about being second class cruisers. I think it finally was poofed. Why can't people except the fact that we enjoy the suites and the perks that come with them.  Does that make us snobs???

I've cruised in an inside cabin, an oceanview, a balcony, and 3 suites. I have always been treated the same. It's the extras that are different and better--not the general treatment.

A lot of it is just ignorance. If they think having a butler means there's some snooty guy in white gloves following you around yes-sir-ing and yes-ma'am-ing all the suite guests, then they haven't done their homework (or read much on travel websites).

I think the most attentive cabin steward I ever had was when I had a porthole cabin.

The best cabin steward we have ever had, by far, was one on the old NCL Sea. It was a deck two, porthole cabin -- and he was absolutely marvelous. He was older than a lot of the other stewards -- in his 40's -- and our cabin literally passed the "white glove" inspection of his supervisor. He asked, very apologetically, one night when we were going to dinner as he needed to have us out of our two cabins for at least an hour while they did an inspection.

I wish I had him at home cleaning my house!

That's a good story, ute_fan. The one I had was on my second cruise (and my second Carnival cruise)--low deck number also. We hit some bad weather and the waves broke against my porthole! It was a cool porthole, though. There was a kind of window seat right there with it. I hung out there a number of times, watching the storm.

Had a lot of time on your hands today, did you? :big grin: I saw the bullies come out on another thread over there. Same people, different victim. It never changes, but sometimes there is a thread or two worth reading.

Or, why can't people accept the fact that suite pax pay LOTS more for their cabins, and should therefore GET more???
