| I was quite fortunate to have stayed in an AB suite on the Dawn this past March. Oh my this suite is unbelievable. I am considering going back on the Dawn in December. My dilema... I am not sure I can swing the AB suite and am considering the AE. How difficult is it to go from the AB to an AE? I loved the AB. The room, the tv's, the bathroom, the service. OK, ok the whirlpool tub & unbelievable shower. I don't want to sound spoiled but I do not want to be dissappointed in my room. I suppose I could always save for next year. Any opinions would be truly appreciated. Thank you.

| We've done exactly that... cruised in an AB and then went to an AE. It was tough but very doable. The service is exactly the same so factor that in. The bathroom is a huge difference for me that I did miss but you get over it when the doorbell rings and your butler is standing there with eggs benedict, hot coffee and juice.

Book the AE and for the upsell fairy to email or call . You will be fine in the AE. They bathroom is a letdown but the view is to die for. I also love the AB/A3 suites. The last 4 cruises I booked an aft cabin and ended up in AB/A3s. Twice the upsell fairy blessed me and twice the AB prices fell 1000s per person late and I upgraded. My friends were booked in an AE for the Jade cruise and ended up in an AA. Now that will spoil you.
You have to play to win If you are not booked you can't win the upsell lottery.

We're currently booked in a BA on the Gem 1/4/09. After being in an AC then AE we know it will be tough. It's an aft BA, so we're that the upsell fairy comes through. No AE/AD/ACs currently available, and the prices on the rest are just outrageous. The one saving grace, if the upsell fairy doesn't call, is that we're adjacent to friends in an AE. We'll open up the balcony dividers and probably share some in-room dinners with them.

To the OP: You'll be fine! I've sailed in a Garden Villa, Owner's Suite and the AE Penthouse. Of course, I'm not crazy, I'd rather be in a GV! :) But, just remember that your cabin will be smaller. And the bathroom is very plain and has no windows. Prepare yourself by Googling the AE suite so you can see pics of the cabin layout.
Actually, on our last cruise, we were in the GV. On our next cruise, we'll be going BACK to an AE. But, we are very lucky...we'll have some great friends in a nearby BA. Gee, I hope they'll share some in-room dinners with us!

Thank you everyone for your answers. I guess it comes down to cruise or no cruise. hmm I think I may know this answer. So, there is a doorbell? I don't know if I could go without that.. it's just the bathroom...so well you know. Although the view is to die for just breathtaking in the aft. Thank you again.

| Everyone is right. I've been in the AC on the Spirit (which is very similar to AB on Dawn expect the bathroom is even better!) and then we last sailed in AE on the Dawn. SG is right...when it all comes down to it, the service experience is exactly the same. The butler & concierge still take great care of you...the bathroom is not nearly as luxurious as the AB, but the view is to absolutely die for. I seriously don't know if I can sail without an aft view in the future. If we are not taking our kids (hence booking a penthouse) then I would book AD or AE on the Dawn unless I was going to the garden villa!! My one little complaint about deck 9 AE suites is there is a little bit of run off water from the deck 10 AD balconies at times. Plus, the balconies are HUGE on deck 10...like 50+ sq ft bigger. I would book the AE again in a heartbeat though...just would probably consider paying a couple dollars more for the AD, plus you probably have a slightly better chance for an upsell call in the AD. Don't take my word for it on the upsells...the upsell fairy doesn't like us for some reason!

Hi Shoreguy,
Are all the AB's on the Dawn the same? Are there concerns (noise, odor, etc.) with one or another?
Thanks.

On our last 2 cruises we were booked in an AE on the Pearl. Last year we got an upsell to the Deluxe Owner's Suite, and the upsell Fairy struck again this year and we ended up in the Owner's Suite!
For our next cruise (on the Star) we booked our first AB--don't think we'll be interested in an upsell (unless it's the GV!!!).

I decided to go with an AD on the Dawn. All the AE's were gone on deck 9. I also decided to wait until March. I was a little afraid of rough seas in December. We will be doing the same ports we did this March but I am sure we can find different things to see. I am just happy I booked a cruise. I do want to thank everyone for your imput & pictures. I am sure I will love my AD. Aft of ship perfect view. I also understand I will smell the bread baking. What more could I ask for?? Oh, yes Shoreguy I will be . The one thing I have learned is be happy with what you choose. Thank you all again now it's time to plan......

The infamous upsell fairy called today. We had an AE booked for Sunday and they made an offer I couldn't refuse for an AA.
Do you have any AA pics in your webshots albums? The NCL lady made a point of mentioning free water as a perk above our AE, like it was a big deal. Any other perks above an AE?

CONGRATULATIONS !!
I'm fairly sure you get 3 bottles of liquor (obviously to go along with your free water ).

Your doomed - spoiled for life. Free water How about all the free soda and mixers you need, Did I mention 3 bottles of free booze. Did I mention reserved seating at the shows. Did I mention you will never hear no for a dinner reservation anywhere anytime even on short notice. Did I mention a preview of the chocolate buffet. Did I mention being escorted off the ship first in port.
Which AA did you get.

I knew you'd have pics. We're in 10006, so the second link was great. Thanks!
I don't drink, and Marcia only drinks wine. I wish I knew someone on the cruise that I could give the booze to. Maybe I'll ask the butler what he/she likes and just leave it behind for them.
We're booked on a Mexican Rivera cruise on Princess in December. I don't know if I'll be able to stand a lowly balcony cabin after this cruise.

You can swap out the booze for wine. My brother did that. Talk to your butler. Make sure they give you a decent bott;e
The AAs on deck 10 are bigger with the bump out for the dining room

Since we didn't drink the 3 free bottles of liquor on our cruise, the butler helped us wrap them up and we brought them home with us.

Did you fly? I'm a little leery of packing booze in my soft sided luggage.
I don't want to end up with Tequila smelling jockey shorts.

No, luckily we didn't have to fly. We drove to the pier and packed the 3 free bottles of liquor in our carry-on (or carry-off) luggage.
