I think we are dealing with a usual head office NCL FU.
They were transferable for a fee them not(we did one) then who knows where we are now.

Just heard from WeLove2Cruise2: I posted her whole message as it's nice to hear good things about the dream as well.
Hi Tara!
Yes, YOU CAN buy future cruise credits as gifts! We bought one for you today. All we do is give you the paperwork, and NCL will call us to confirm that we have gifted it to you. Piece of cake!
We are having a great time on this ship -- it's what you make it, definitely, but it is a great ship with a really great crew -- contrary to what has been posted. I think if you're nice to the crew, they'll be nice to you, and that has certainly been the case so far this trip. Derrick Van Der Nest is the Hotel Director (we know him from previous cruises) and he's been great to deal with. Karin Goedecke is the concierge (we also know her from previous cruises) and she's treated us just great!
I can't believe it's Friday already -- this trip has gone by much too fast. See you when we get home!

:toocool: so glad it worked out. Somehow I would bet the answer you get will depend on who the Latitudes/Future Cruise Consultant onboard a ship. Not unusual to get two different answers from NCL depending on the real knowledge of each employee.

I bought two Cruise Rewards on our Dawn cruise last month and now don't think we will use them. We now have a very limited window of time during which we can travel - i.e. only in May/June 09, only out of NY - and really would like itinerary options other than BDA.
If anyone is interested in doing a "transfer deal", let me know.

Just back from the Dream -- and YES, you can buy a future cruise credit for someone else. In fact, they were advertising the fact that you can buy them as a gift. All you need to do is purchase the FCC, "gift" it to someone, and when they go to use it NCL will call you to make sure you gave the FCC to the person using it to book. Bear in mind that you can only buy 4 FCC per cruise.
Edited to read: Just noticed that cruisinwithkids has already posted my response to her.
The information regarding passing on the FCC to someone else is prominently advertised and shown on the paperwork. I would scan it and post here, but my scanner crapped out...

Well, that answers that.lol I wonder why we were given a different answer on the Gem in April???
Ps. I'm thrilled that you enjoyed the Dream. We're leaving a week from Sunday and I'm hoping things being posted on the ds are being exaggerated.

I can't believe it took me a month to do this, but I finally transferred the cruise reward to my name. It took a very short time on the phone with the cruise rewards desk. She said it will take 3 to 5 business days. I can't even imagine why it would take any days, but it doesn't matter.
So, WeLove2cruise2 got the $100 OBC and I will be booking our next cruise laying out only $250. We are looking to go to Bermuda and I think we'll be doing 4 in a room . Should be interesting. But my point is we would have needed $1,000 for the deposit but instead spent only $250.00. There was no transfer fee.
This really is a win-win situation.
Thanks, Peggy!

Hi Tara:
Glad I was able to help you out! When we bought them, the cruise consultant told us that we'd probably get a call from NCL to confirm that we'd given the cruise reward to you, but we never did get a call. Sounds like it was pretty hassle free.
So what did you end up booking? I hope you're not doing 4 in a cabin on the Majesty! Actually, I don't think it would matter which ship, 4 in a cabin is just WAAAY too tight...

| So today's update is that the certificate was applied to my account, but they also applied it to my outstanding cruise. I've called and asked for it to be unapplied.

What did they say when you asked to have it unapplied?? I ran into a similar situation when I changed from the Spirit to the Gem. I had an unused deposit which NCL took in error. They refunded the 250$ but wouldn't let me use it as a deposit

I'm not speaking to you. I just booked the Spirit for next August and was excited to see you on the roll call only to find out you cancelled.
Right now the reservation is being held pending availability of the cruise reward deposit.
