8888, also thanks from me for the video. Very enjoyable.
Shoreguy, your pics were very good! I especially enjoyed the Lysefjord cruise ones. Was that on a ship's shorex or on your own? We are going to be on the Eurodam next month and that is one of our stops. A group of us from the darkside (sorry, but HAL isn't as bad as the NCL'ers there ) are going. Since there are 70 of us, they said we will have boat to ourselves. It looks like the same company.

The tour was booked thru NCL. It was in fact one of the better tours of the whole cruise. Great weather played a roll in that. On a cold damp day it could make for a very long tour locked inside the boat.
The good news they run the boat at a nice pace allowing you to be comfortable ondeck the whole time. The Oye By Land & Sea tour in Alesund had remarkable scenery but I think the captain of the boat had a hot date as we ran about 30 mph back to Alesund.
After being in northern Norway and some remarkable fjords I was concerned about this tour especially after the Hardanger & Fantoft nightmare in Bergen the day before. It was a pleasant surprise and sort enough to still spend time in town.

One of the things about the food on the Jade was it's inconsistency. A great restaurants kicks out the same dish exactly the same day after day and week after week.
I think I covered the ravioli in Papa's. Here is an another example from the Bistro. The mushroom soup as always was great but look at the 2 pictures. First night in a shallow oatmeal bread bowl, perhaps 2 oz of soup. The next time more then twice as much soup in a sesame bread bowl. Not a big deal but one of the constant little things I noticed that never happened on my last two cruises on the Gem.

I did find a beach in Norway. The only one I saw. The good news no sandbags.

Completed mine yesterday afternoon. Be careful there are limits in the comment sections. I found that out after spending a long time answering what can NCL do to make the product better for you.
My favorite question was almost identical to a thread I started on the darkside that contributed to me being in banned camp. I asked for the top 3 things and pointed NCL management to the thread.
"If you were president of NCL what one thing would you do the make NCL better?"

| Is there more opportunity to be more specific on the new survey? I always found the cards that were handed out on the ship to be very generalized. Made it difficult when evaluating restaurants as your choices were non specific to individual dining experiences. I believe the choices were excellent, good and poor - and although our experience was from one spectrum to the other I didn't feel it fair to combine the poorer experiences with the great ones. The other problem with the old survey IMO was that there really was not enough room to explain the reasoning for an excellent or poor rating.

Should have reversed that and had you do the English version
I was not kind to the Jade - gave the overall experience an excellent but it was not because of the ship and I made it very clear in the comments. When answering "what would you do if you were President of NCL?" I chose to restrict my answer to the Jade. I suggested a comprehensive quality control initiative. Covered the wild swings in food quality and the cabin conditions including reports of stinky, dusty, stained furniture, burned out lights, cabinet doors falling off, showers not working, and sliding doors in different penthouse + cabins in need of repair
I also made sure I recognized the folks onboard that went out of their way to try and make things perfect like Tony Lockett. Did the same in my email thank you note to Klaus.

The survey took about 20-30 minutes. Some of the same rating boxes. Overall rating for food. then request you to select all restaurants you ate in, followed by question on each of them. So if you had a overall excellent food experience but one place was not up to speed you can point that out.
The first question they ask is for an overall rating of your experience from booking to disembarkation. The next quest ask you specifically why you gave it that rating. The answer is free form and they want details. - far better then the old cards.
They asked for ratings on each of the shows / entertainment.
Great question -free form answer again - what can NCL to for someone like you to make your next cruise experience better. I answered give to me for free and then went on to a more serious answer.

I have a funny "dust" story from our cruise on the Jade.
We were in Cagney's for late lunch - after arriving in Ponte Delgada - as we were leaving we noticed Captain Trond (captain at the time) with 4 of his officers in the "concierge lounge" next thing we know he's got his officers banging out pillows etc and the dust was flying everywhere. In comes some dignitaries (I'm assuming from Ponte D.) and they started a meeting. Wouldn't have wanted to be the cleaning crew once that meeting was done.

Wow, now that sounds much more comprehensive. I like it.
As for the "free" cruise - I'd be tempted as well, but would point them in the direction of enabling their reservations staff with more accurate information - possibly even set them up to be assigned to information on specific ships. We had a heck of a time with the crap info we were getting when we booked the last cruise. Very frustrating
Oh, that's right, I did suggest that to Customer Relations after we got home.

We were in cagnies for lunch one of the ports(forget which one) where they were having another of those "first port" meetings,
No plumping of the furniture that day.

I just remebered one other area of questions. All about planning your cruise. One of the questions was about the value of online reviews from places like Cruise Critic. I rated that poor.

I see your pictures are up and there are a LOT of them! I may have to look at them in "shifts".

I'm only a newbie here compared with all you guys and gals. I never saw that thread - what is so contentious with discussing what things would make NCL better?

Hey shoreguy, I shall be on the Jade on 9 Aug in an AB. Some posts over on the dark side had comments on how some of the butlers were not quite up to the job (not the Jade specifically). I don't suppose you'd know if there are any dodgy butlers on that ship, would you?
Oh, and many thanks for the pics and video which are much appreciated. Same comments to others too (though I'm sorry to say I just can't get Sellie's video to work)

The butler on deck 10 was not the best according to those on the cruise and we had 4 penthouse cabins in the group on that deck. Sorry I did not know anyone in the ABs so no information on the butler that handles all the ABs.

I see nothing wrong with putting out suggestions on how NCL (or any company) can improve itself. Sounds like a good topic for discussion. Go ahead and start it!

Jade AB - butlers - back in March (Deck 11) were
Andrew - great young lad with tons of energy and very much liked by the passengers who were his service group.
Jay - Jaeremar? - fantastic butler - (if he's still there) this man knows the meaning of customer satisfaction.
