Nothing as posh as that for us, we awoke to a guy on the last day hosing down the balcony and windows. Thought he would come in and do the rest of the cabin if he could.
Maybe the powers that be had read on the roll call about all the fish based activities we had planned on Deck 11

The primary group semed to be a few families from Spain(spanish speaking).
It was the teens that were the primary problem in Spinnikers. Talking through the late acts but enjoying the karaoke and disco. probably around 20ish
The yonger groups just hung around the stairs another 20ish
Allthough we never expereinced it, late family meals have been reported.
Of all those wanting to indulge in late night activity this was by far the largest group and acounted for probably 60% of those frequenting spinnakars late and there was no where for them to go as a family group.
The problem is that the only place open late is Spinnaker, Medusa shuts down and is also 18+ for the whatever rooms from 10:00pm.
The ship was fully aware of the issue so this is not an internet revelation
Shutting down Spnnaker, the extreme option if they refused to cooperate with the 18+ rule, would have inconvenienced others(not that many) , they could have tried to provide an alternative venue suitable for a largish group of passengers some under 18, did not see this happen. Medusa was unused after the dance band stopped so could have been used as spanish karaoke/teen disco.
An over 18 late night policy will hit problems with larger groups of southern europeans on board, It will be interesting to hear how the Gem deals with this on the 7n out of Barcelona which must be attracting more spanish passengers. It may be easier to keep Spinnaker an open room with Bliss handling the 18+ offering.
The Jewel and Jade were desinged with Medusa/Fyzz(sp) to be the late night(18+) disco location but this has moved to Spinnaker.
We have no idea what options were considered but there were plenty of cruise staff aware(they hang out in Spinnaker) of the issue and nothing was seen to be done other than anouncements and the occational visit from security.
On one night, one of the Second City cast made direct comments and later another appologised as if they had been told off for raising the issue.
One thing to note is that from my experience of longer cruises in Europe without this spanish group Spinnakers would have been DEAD every night and we would have nothing to report other than boring late nights.
On reflection the lets play lip service to the over 18 policy may have been an active choice of the managment, given this mix of late night passengers probably a sensible one giving spinnaker some life.
Overall very little disruption to our cruise and I would be supprised if many were even aware of the issue.
Thats the late night part, the general rudeness throughtout the ship would be more difficult to deal with, we had similar situation on a previous cruise with a large group(500) of Brazilian in family groups that thought they owned the place, made this bunch look like angels.

Our experience sailing out of Puerto Rico was much the same. Large family groups, speaking Spanish, very rude and thinking they owned the ship. One reason I'll never take another cruise from there. It seems to be a cultural thing.

It may not really be a cultural thing. I think it has more to do with a "mob mentality" We've seen this pretty much with any ethnic group sailing in a large group. They become so involved in their own insulated group, that they forget or ignore the fact that there are others onboard whom they may be annoying with their actions.
It is a difficult situation all around for both the other passengers and the crew. To Shoreguy and the others on this sailing- Sorry you had to deal with this.

I was prepared for this when I sailed out of Puerto Rico, but oddly enough I experienced none of this - didn't even see much sign that the ship was full of anything but a normal sailing - might have been because it was spring break in the states, around Easter, and maybe everyone stayed in Puerto Rico for the holiday, and therefore didn't take the ship. We were on Princess; I haven't heard if Princess has experienced the same issues that I've heard on other lines.

This pic made me LOL! It's great. I just couldn't picture myself doing a sign like that, but I can appreciate it when someone else does.

Have put some photos up on Webshots
http://community.webshots.com/user/tonymanch
Need to add some captions WARNING there are already too many and more pics to come.
Those teenagers smoking in Jim's pic are the ones that sat at the bar halfway through a guest speaker's lecture in Medusa's one afternoon, ordered a coke then started talking at full volume totally disregarding the fact that a load of people were listening to a college professor's talk. It didn't really matter as he had a mike, but it illustrates the ignorance displayed throughout the cruise by certain elements.
Point: none of this type of behaviour detracted from my cruise experience, just an observation. Virtually nothing will spoil my holiday, even the ngatives contribute to the experience.

Thanks for posting the video. The videographers did a great job of capturing the sights.
So what did you all think of the Hawaii themed areas? Being a true aficionado of Hawaii, I enjoyed seeing "The King" in the main dining room. In my book, a little reminder of Hawaii is never ever a bad thing.
Thanks again for the posting.
Ciao,

Tony, thanks for posting your pics! I've enjoyed watching them and living vicariously through you and the others. I would have loved to have seen these sights with all of you, especially Stonehenge!
SG, we'll be waiting!
