I found my favorite suite, the ERV, costs just about double on NCL.co.uk today as on NCL.com - on the Jade Transatlantic on 29th February this year.

I might have to tell a teensy little porkie and book on the US site

No problems booking via ncl.com even if you don't live in USA or Canada.  I managed to easily book a cabin on the Jade on ncl.com last Thursday and I live in Scotland and am a UK citizen.

Why is it that I feel like "Wave Season" is a wash this year? I'm not seeing any great specials. Rich? Ann?

Definitely not as good as past years.  I think the cruise lines figure they'll fill the ships anyway, so why offer such good deals?

End of the day for a lot of people the specials are only relevent if the prices drop against the competition. If you are an NCL only cruiser then as the leading supermarket in the UK says, "every little helps".

Mind you I priced up a Princes trip for a suite and 3-4pax were stupid money compaired to NCL.

BTW Celebrity have good prices for the Baltic early season.

...If you can find an answer to this question, I would suggest sending a resume to NCL applying for Colin Veich's job..... ;)

I had a thought about this last night.  Freestyle TNG (the next generation) :P can return to the classic ocean liner passenger class system, while still retaining the concept of Freestyle.

Those who book inside cabins get bargain-basement prices, and have their choice of eating at the buffet or paying extra cover charges whenever they want to visit the main dining room and specialty restaurants.  Loss-leader pricing for the cruise when advertising it, with the option to upgrade on-board whenever you want just by paying the cover charges.

Ocean-view cabin passengers get the aft main dining room added onto their ticket price as a free option, or can pay cover charges for the specialties.

Balcony/mini-suite PAX get the other large dining room added onto their ticket as a free option, which includes Freestyle 2.0 upgraded food like lobsters every night.

Suites and higher get every restaurant on the ship included in their ticket price, with no cover charge anywhere.

When the original Freestyle came out, computer technology wasn't quite ready yet for tracking passengers and their meal plans at the point of sale (POS).  With NCL moving towards custom-colored key cards for different categories of passengers and the on-board IT investments NCL has made, a system like this can easily be put into place today if they wanted.

You can have your cake (cheap cruise) and eat it (lobster) too...as long as you're willing to pay the cover charge when you want upgraded food. :big grin:

Colin can keep his job, ;) but I wouldn't mind an engine room tour on the Gem next week..... :outtahere:

NCL's spectacular new TV ad campaign is here (woo hoo!) and these commercials are really something else. We use humorous situations (wait 'til you see that little kid staring at the guy) to show you that NCL isn't stiff and regimented like the other cruise lines, but you already know that. Check them out for yourself here.

Plus, sail from one great port to another on your next NCL cruise in your own balcony stateroom or suite. Check out all our luxe accommodations have to offer at

Geez, spend one evening packing a suitcase instead of reading my e-mail, and somebody beats me to posting the latest Latitudes e-mail!  ;)

Anyway, it's good to see that I won't be missed for the next week or so, :P and it appears by the attached picture from ~7:00 AM that my ship has finally come in.  Time to load up the car and get outta here.....

On My God!! I finally got an email from NCL and it was from that new XMR3 web address that NCL recently got involved with. I don't know whether you could call it a spam email because it was encouraging me to book my shore excursions early for my next cruise which is in less than two weeks. Of course, I already have my shore excursions planned so I'm not sure why NCL would send me this email unless it was spam. Any way, I am very happy with getting this email from NCL because it might mean I will get others, including the one that tells me I won a free cruise. Ha Ha!!

What the heck is going on at NCL? First we get Europe as the sale of the week. Then we get Alaska as the sale of the week. Then we get Europe again as the sale of the week. Now we have Europe and Alaska as the sale of the week. Will somebody smack the guy in charge and tell him there are other destinations that NCL goes to so that we get get the discounts or on board credits. NCL is making it so hard on me to book another cruise with them. :sleepy:

Don't tempt me.

Guess they must be having big problems selling their Europe & Alaska itineraries for them to be pushing them for four weeks.  The week after next is the final week, so hopefully that'll be Caribbean.

You gonna be the lead plaintiff in the "truth in advertising" class action suit, Rich? :roflmao:

Don't tempt me.

Guess they must be having big problems selling their Europe & Alaska itineraries for them to be pushing them for four weeks.  The week after next is the final week, so hopefully that'll be Caribbean.

If they put the european trips at the same price in europe as in the US then they would sell a lot better.

NCL UK price for 30 May inside  £1k pp, 10% discount though agent, seen on offer at around £899

BPC price  £720 pp      both with fuel&Tx

And that is one of the better ones this year

RCI Independace similar trip just about sold out.

Yup, they sure do stick it to the Europeans :nono:, so they're probably sailing other lines.  The airfare from the US is crazy, so that's probably scaring people off, too.

You got it. I refuse to spend an amount for airfare that equals a single cruise fare.

Forgot to mention that when NCL repriced the 30th cruise last OCt they misspriced in the US so some got the cruise for around £500($1k) which is great for a 14n trip.

Don't consider South America then!  We're flying from the UK but the fares are also really high from the US as far as I can tell.  We're paying more for the airfare than we are for a 14 day
