We have booked on this July 08 cruise (21 days) having deserted HAL a few years ago, after two poor cruises - one on the Maasdam and one on the then newly launched Zeiderdam.
Hopefully, this will be a great itinerary - was invited for lunch on her when she was the Seabourn Sun, but although we now prefer the large ships for the variety of entertainment, I know this ship exudes 'class' - which hopefully, will compensate for the lack of 'glitz' and, being a smaller ship, inevitably more restricted entertainment!!!!
We are booking this for the fabulous (I hope) itinerary. However, Greenland seems little visited by the major cruise lines. Anyone any advice on 'must see's' and 'must do's'??
Anyone else been on the Prinsendam recently?

I'm sorry we don't have more HAL cruisers here. We're trying to build up the HAL forum, as well as Princess & RCCL. Feel free to invite any friends you know over here to help us!
I have done 2 Mediterranean cruises, but never the Baltic countries. I am hoping to do a British Isles cruise within the next few years, after my DH retires. Right now, due to his work schedule, we can only do 7-day cruises.

Hi Pearlyqueen
I have only cruised one time on HAL it was an around the horn South America cruise in late 2005. We really enjoyed the Rotterdam VI. I much prefer the lido to the Windjammer. The Pinacle Grill was good, but not as good as the Millenium's Olympic restaurant.

Thank you Catnip - hopefully, these threads will expland over time!!
jc - thank you also for responding. As it happens, the Millenium class restaurants are too formal for us to eat there frequently - we prefer more relaxed surroundings in our old age!! However, one of their Maitre D's - Dominic - is exceptional!! He epitomises the French formality of the restaurants!! He is also hilarious - soooo French!! We love him. The Pinnacle appears to be based along similar lines - we had dinner there when the Zuiderdam was new. Again, too formal for us really.
The more informal Chops and Portofinos suit us better - we just ask for the meal to be served fairly quickly without the presentations etc. Unless we are with guests who haven't been before of course, as its part of the performance!!
We are looking forward to our next few cruises, which are on RCCL - but will be looking more closely at HAL in the future.
This will be us in a few weeks - I hope!!
Did you have bad weather 'round the Horn?'.
