Well just take the yellow Costa funnel off and add a whale tail and you have a Carnival ship. Amazing how much the two lines look alike once you step inside.

Gordon,
Have you ever sailed on Costa? I have wanted to, but never seem to get around to it. I have read some good reviews about them.

Carnival Corp. enjoys economies of scale by using the same ships designs for Costa as for Carnival, beginning with the Costa Atlantica and Mediterranea.

| Denise, I have never cruised on Costa and going by what I have read in reviews, I don't plan to. Same way with MSC. From everything that I have read, it is a totally different experience and I guess it would depend on the person but it doesn't sound like it's for me.

That they do and IMHO too much. All of the ships are starting to look the same across multiple brands. They took the Spirit/Atlantica class and retooled it for HAL, Cunard and P&O. The same with the Conquest class for Costa. Princess and P&O share the Grand class.

Can you elaborate on the different experience? I know Costa is geared towards the European crowds...........and to tell the truth, I don't know much about MSC, except that I get lots of e-mails from them!

That is one class of ship that I do NOT care for. I've been on the Golden and the Grand, and do not like anything about them. I will not be cruising on another Grand-class ship.

From what I have read, you hit the nail on the head. Cruises are geared more towards the Euro crowds. Annoucements in five languages, smoking is allowed in more areas and the food is geared towards the European customers as well. None of what I read made it sound like something that I would want. I do think that MSC has some great looking ships.

You know, that is one of the things I really dislike about RCCL these days is the 4 different langauge annoucements over the ships loudpeaker. English, Spanish, German and French. I was very pleasantly surprised when we were on the Solstice that they make very little overhead daily announcements! No calling you to Bingo, or telling you about the sexy leg competition....it was wonderful!
And I had read that Costa did allow smoking in part of the dining room, which totally turned me off.

They DO look amazing alike although the decor seems to be slightly toned down for Costa. At least they don't have purple and pink grapes hanging from the dining room ceiling!
