Costa Mediterranea just completed a €3.5m drydock for routine maintenance at Grand Bahama Shipyard. The 10-day project was the first docking of a Costa Crociere vessel at a yard near the Caribbean basin.
Work on the 2003-built ship involved the hull, engine and hotel, including careening, painting and maintenance on the pod units of the diesel-electric propulsion system. Carpeting, drapes and other soft goods were replaced in the public areas and cabins.
Costa Mediterranea now resumes its seven-day winter cruise cycle in the Caribbean. From Saturday to April 8, the ship will operate alternating Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries, with departures from Miami through Dec. 30 and from Fort Lauderdale beginning Jan. 7.
