My first cruise was over 4th of July weekend on the Sensation... I took my then BF for his 30th bday... it was the first cruise for both of us (the review is posted here)... I will never forget that feeling when I first saw the ship... my stomach sank! I was so excited. Stepping foot on the ship was like nothing I have ever known. I just knew this was going to be something I would LOVE! The BEST part of the cruise was sailaway....it was magical, and to this day I still get that same feeling. There is just something about saying goodbye to reality.
Here is my review from that cruise: http://cruisetalk.mywowbb.com/forum11/10.html

| I agree -- there is no feeling in the world like the first time you see the ship!!! That's an image that will be stuck in my mind for the rest of my life!

Our first crusie was on the Valor last September. I was amazed at the size of the ship also. All the negativity I had heard about embarkation was not true at all. It seemed as if we basically just walked through all the lines.
I kept telling everybody that my main mission was to be on the Lido deck with a foo-foo umbrella drink in my hand. What is funny about this is that we really didn't know where we were going after we got through all the lines. I just kinda followed the folks in front of me. All of a sudden we go through these sliding doors and there is a waiter there with a tray of drinks, he hands me one, I turn to Peewee and say "See, this is what I was talking about"
I had met this group of people from another board who happened to be having a party at Myrtle Beach the same weekend we were going on this cruise. (Some of you may know them). It was cool talking to Lauri and hearing all her drunky friends at the same time as we were taking it all in for the first time. Kinda felt like everyone was with us.

Hey, I know that group LOL!! And even though we wished we would have been cruising with you, it was a great weekend! All we kept saying was "do you think Lynne is addicted yet???" LOL!!

May 2000 Carnival Destiny, Boston to Canada. I won an award at work that included $500 in cash. My sister Jeanne found a great price for a last minute cruise to Canada.
The ship was late getting into port so Carnival called the TA and gave everyone $100 OBC for the aggravation. We arrived by bus to see the ship pulling into the pier. OMG what a beautiful site! This was around midnight (original embarkation 7pm?) we finally got on the ship around 2am, had some dinner and then went to bed.
I woke up at 830am, ran upstairs to see what the wide open ocean looked like. Imagine my surprise when what I saw instead was the Boston skyline All day they kept telling us we were going. First they cancelled our first port but we were still going. When they finally cancelled the cruise 1-1/2 days into a 4 day cruise, the state troopers came on board, did an inventory of the liquor cabinets and locked them down. Came back the next morning to reinventory and see that everyone got of the ship.
I was disappointed but realized that even with our literal CTN I had had a blast! I've now been on 8 cruises (CCL,NCL,RCL & X) with 3 more booked
