We went on the then Nordic Empress with friends and I almost had to be dragged on kicking and screaming. I liked the thought of going to Bermuda but thought I would be bored out of my mind on sea days. I do like hot tubs and the pool, but burn easy so do not lay out in the sun. Hey If I want to snooze I would rather do it in an air conditioned room in a comfy bed. And since I am a roller coaster nut ( or we also like to explore new  things and do historical trips.), I like a little activity.

And of course the first night when I finally did get some sleep, dreams of Tiatnic and Poisiden Adventure were in my head. But when I awoke and was ok, I was addicted! I have no sea sick problems as my family did fish and go on small boats now and then and I grew up taking subways ( and can walk thru the moving train cars, so sea legs came naturally to me). So now I am hooked!

Amazing how our attitudes change once we get on that ship!

I think part of it was because of 2 things. I have been on those booze cruises and gambling ships and was not impressed. And earlier when my sis sailed on HAL over 20 years ago we saw the ship before they left, her room had bunks and looked pretty much like the rooms on miliary vessels, so again I was not impressed.  So even though my room on NE was small by comparison to later cruises it was larger than I expected ( but thanks to cruise boards I did get the virtual tour) and the spacoiusness and glamour and service on the ship exceeded my expectations, so after that I WAS impressed. And here I am taoday bemoaing the fact I have to wait so long for my next one.:(

My second cruise was on the Nordic Empress.  It was in November 1991, my honeymoon, and part of a 2 week back to back, 1 week on the Nordic Empress and 1 week on the Sovereign of the Seas.
