My first cruise was on an old NCL ship. At first, I didn't think I would like it, but I had a BLAST! I've been on around 30-31 cruises, but don't remember exactly how many. I never kept a logbook, so don't have the exact number.
I my favorite older ships were the Song of Norway and Song of America. I also loved the (old) Crown & Regal Princess.
My favorite ship now is the Splendour of the Seas. I've been on her 2 or 3 times and just love the layout of that ship. Brilliance is a close 2nd to Splendour, and I've been on her 3 times, with a 4th coming up in March.
Anchors aweigh!!

My first cruise was on Holland America's Nieuw Amesterdam in 1994 out of Tampa. It was our honeymoon (even though when we booked it we weren't even thinking of getting married). Even though I was seasick on the last sea day (along with most of the other passengers and close to half the crew), I was definitely hooked. DW was afraid that after being sick she'd never get me on another cruise.
I think I was one of the youngest passengers on the ship, and I still had a great time (non-honeymoon activities included ).

Is there a chance that Gramps' first cruise was the Titanic?

| My first cruise was on the Carnival Sensation in 1999. I knew nothing about cruising except what I'd seen on The Love Boat and the commercials. Everything was so new and exciting. Hubby swears I was like a little kid in a toy store. The first day out there was a tropical storm somewhere in the Caribbean and we had 12 foot swells. There was also another Carnival ship in the Gulf that had become disabled. We stood by until the tugs could come out from Florida to help it back in. Between that and the weather, we were unable to go Grand Cayman so we got extra time between Playa del Carmen and Cozumel. I snorkeled for the first time there and took my dream trip to Chichen Itza. Yes, the first one always holds a special place in your heart and memory.

First cruise for us was Dec 1989 on the Carnival Holiday and that ship looked HUGE to us when we saw it for the first time . I was 11 weeks pregnant with my first child and had thrown up every single day of my pregnancy up til that point. I was so afraid I'd be seasick the whole time. Bought seabands and ginger tabs. I walked on that ship and my nausea disappeared and didn't come back til I got pregnant for #2 three years later!!
We had the best time - had booked the lowest priced inside guarantee and ended up in an outside on Empress deck which was great. We stopped at Cozumel, Ocho Rios and Grand Caymen and had perfect weather the whole time. I wanted to parasail on Grand Caymen so badly but my sensible hubby who never questions my judgement and is really supportive, told me he'd consider me a total asshole for the rest of my life if I did that while pregnant ! That sunk in.
Anyway, that's the one that hooked me and we have great memories of that ship.
