My partner and I are booked on the Grandeur of the Seas for the September 7, 2007 9 night cruise to New England and Canada.  This will be our fourth cruise on the Grandeur so obviously we love her.  She is a beautiful ship.  We also like the size of the Vision class ships - large enough so that there is plenty to do, but small enough that you don't have to walk your legs off.

We also like the fact that the Grandeur sails out of Baltimore 7 or 8 months of the year.  The port is less than an hour drive from our home.  We're hoping that the beautiful new Port of Baltimore will attract other cruise ships so that there will be more choices.

So, is there any family booked on the Grandeur next September?  We had 17 at the FOD party on our Grandeur cruise two weeks ago.  Had Happy Hours in the Schooner Lounge every night of the cruise.  The group grew to about 25 - 30 by the end of the cruise.

Better you singing than me! :big grin: We're a small but growing board. Hopefully you'll find others on your cruise!

We are getting ready to cancel this cruise.  We booked the Oceania Regatta transatlantic repositioning cruise next November instead.

Was there a huge price difference in the two cruises? The nice thing is, you've been on the Grandeur several times already. The Regatta should be something new!

Actually, even with the airfare and hotel, the cost of the two cruises was within a couple of hundred dollars - and we get 4 extra nights (2 in Barcelona and 2 at sea) with the Regatta cruise.  Quite a deal.  I've heard that repositioning cruises are usually good deals.  I guess partly because there are not many port calls and a lot of people want lots of ports.  We actually prefer sea days to port days.

We've changed our minds again.  We've decided to do BOTH cruises - Grandeur of the Seas on September 7 to New England and Canada, and Oceania Regatta on November 13 from Barcelona to Miami.

A good portion of both fares is already paid, so we decided to splurge when we found out what a good deal we have on the Grandeur.  We booked an aft junior suite on deck 7 last September for $3572.  Yesterday our travel agent said those cabins on our cruise are now $4796.  We decided we couldn't turn down a deal like that.

Has there been a big jump in cruise fares across the board or just on certain cruise lines, or certain itineries?  In the past it seemed like most fares went down in September - not up.

Does anyone know what's going on?

That's great Adam! A suite too! I am sooo envious! I haven't heard much about fares recently, but it's usually someone finding the same thing as you have, going up not down.

Seems like the Caribbean are about the only itineraries going down.  I think that people are tired of the Caribbean and are looking to do other things.  Most of the cruise lines are doing quite well in other areas.
