Sharon, I would absolutely LOVE to see you and Dave! Everyone is welcome!
It's usually a 3-day event, but no one is locked into all 3 days. Most people are okay with any weekend, but it looks like it's getting narrowed down to Aug. 15-17. In the months ahead, plans will be discussed as to what area people want for hotels and what will be done during those 3 days.
Typically, people drive or fly in on Friday then everyone gets together at a specific restaurant for dinner with drinks before and sometimes after at one of the local bars. We have tons of nice places without breaking your pocketbook. Last year we had over 20 people from all over the country. We did the Granfaloon before dinner then went to George Brett's as a group to eat. After that, we were all tired and went back to the hotel.
Saturday, the group does what they want. I went home from my hotel since most of them went to the adult section of our local waterpark, Oceans of Fun. If this doesn't appeal to you, KC is a great city for tourists! At night we all got together and headed to Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill. We ate, drank, danced, talked and laughed. This is located in one of the big casinos here so there is a lot to do and see besides just Toby's.
Sunday is for breakfast for those who can crawl out of bed, saying goodbye and heading home. I'll put in some links so you can see what I'm talking about.
Hope you can make it!
Deb, it sounds good. We know the city some but not alot. We do have family there and it is only a 7 hour drive for us. Dave says we can plan on it.
We may make this the beginning of a week there to see family in Olathe, Lawerence and Abilene and of course, the old home in Belleville.
Yaaaaaaayyyyy!

Nor did I cookie... until Reecey let me know yesterday afternoon...
I guess I should have been more specific when I e-mailed you Amy. I apologize. But like I said, nothing was or is definite. Dates were just being tossed around. I feel really bad about this. I am just gonna stay outta the planning part from now on.
Don't you dare! We need your input! I got the dates from the CC thread. Nothing is set in stone so we can still toss around the dates we want to do this.

Will you fill my McDonald's cup up with margarita from the big jug again?
ROFLMAO!! Was that at Reecey's pool? I swear, that day is a blur... whatever those drinks BJ brought me (was it the tea??) plus the margaritas... I was TOAST Oh how I miss booze... I really really miss booze!! LMAO!!!
Yes, that was at the pool on Friday afternoon.... and yes, BJ was pimping out the Raw Tea.
Those were some good 'ritas.

My DD overseas just called me this morning, and I told her about this meeting, and she's excited to go! It just depends on her drill weekend, and she won't know about that for a couple months yet. So keep fingers crossed that it's not on the weekend we choose! It will be a good chance for her to meet some people, too! And if Laurie finds out we're going to Toby Keith's, that will be a big selling point for her! She's in love with him! We're going to the one in Vegas!
I would probably drive down to Springfield Ill. to meet up with DD, then go from there. She says it's about 4 hrs. to KC from there. Maybe my other daughters would be interested, too. . .if that's ok with everyone!

The rental wants to fly to MN and drive down with me, but when he finds out he can fly from Philly to KC for less, he might change his mind.
So it is the 15-17 weekend? I'll make sure I get that Friday off.
I'm glad you can make it Shelly! We'll figure out the dates as more people chime in. We may even do . . . . . . a poll!

Those things were GOOD!! Reecey does make the best margaritas ever!!! First time she made them for me was here, we had to go to Home Depot to buy a grill, so she said we couldn't go without drinks... she made us these HUGE cups and then had all the men in HD helping us with grillls... the girl is FUN to shop with, LMAO!!!!

Bring them all! Everyone is welcome! (With this group, I don't think you'd want to bring very small kids. Older kids though would be great! There is some drinking going on! )
We started talking about this last year at the same time. That way we have lots of time for people to see if they can make whatever weekend we choose, decide what to do and where to go. And remember, NO ONE is locked into doing anything. If the majority decide to do something and you don't really like the idea, there are so many other things to do here that you'll have a hard time making up your mind!

Oh Lordy, of course no small children! I don't have those any more, thank goodness! There's a reason we quit having babies. . . The Gramma role suits me just fine!

We do and we'd love you to join us! Every year we get more people and make new friends. It's a lot of fun! We usually spend most of our time in the KC, Missouri area, but I live across the state line in Kansas, south of Kansas City, Kansas. Last year I stayed in a hotel to spend the weekend with the group. It took me ten minutes from my house to the hotel.
Here are some pictures from the last couple of years:
