Dawson - Don't blame me...I got talked into this cruise.

Rich  - how much are the hump cabins vs. what I paid?  See, if I end up not going on our Nov cruise, I'd want to upgrade my promenade room for this cruise. But b/c I don't know....I can't make a decision. Are there any Aft's left? Honestly, what are the chances that you and Jeri won't be going in Nov?

The humps are category E2, which is $240 more per person than the PR cabins.  Right now, there's one more cabin open on "our" hump.  There are two afts left on deck 9, and they're another $10 per person.

I'm not sure what's happening with November.  We are doing the Ireland trip and get back two weeks before the cruise, and we've made an offer on a house in NC.  I still definitely want to do the cruise too, but I'm just not sure right now.

Well here's what I am thinking.  Since I don't have to make a decision on my Crown cruise until Sept (I think), why don't we keep that for now. I can always cancel.  If I do cancel and decide I am in cruise withdrawal, I can always go short notice and possibly go with Bob and Fran on the Jewel in Nov, right?

I'm debating on the aft versus hump..what do you think? I posting in a few places to see what people think!

Yup, as long as there's space on the Jewel, you do have that option.  We'll definitely know what's going on before September, and I'll let you know what we decide.

As far as aft vs. hump, we've never sailed in either one, but there aren't that many ships that have the hump cabins.

In all honesty, the humps are nothing that spectacular, except for the balcony.
The rooms have the same view as others on the side of the ship and are the same size. The difference is the balcony.....I like the stand on my balcony and look "down" to see the water and the waves.  On the regular side cabins, you cannot see all the way down to the water, because you are seeing the white top of the lifeboats. (at least that's the way it is on the Radiance class of RCCL ships).
Since the hump cabins are on the rounded out part of the mid-ship area, you can see all the way down to the water and/or pier.  That's why I like them.

I have never stayed in an aft cabin, because I don't want my only view to be the wake & see where I've been. I think it would be an odd feeling. I like the cabins on the side of the ship, so I can see when we're pulling into port in the mornings!

Nip - let me know if you find good airfare and I'll do the same. Maybe you can drive to Charlotte or I can drive to Raleigh depending on who has the better price.

Rich - let me know if you run across a good price as well!

We'll do.  Of course, these days, "a good price" might be anything under $400.

Joe posted a price for me on the dark side but I couldn't really understand it. If I find a good price (around $250) I'd book now!

I understood it, but it was from West Palm Beach.  That was fine for him, but it wouldn't help you any.

erby,
By next spring, we'll be living in Fla.  We're starting the move down next month.  (My DH will still be working here part-time, though).
But we will still live a good 6-hr drive from Miami.......:shoot me:     The cruise lines offer a "Cruise Connection" bus that we will most likely take down.........we won't have the hassles of the airports and luggage fees, and we can read and nap on the long drive down!

Hello!   Thanks Denise for the invite!

So, let me see if I understand the deal on this cruise.

*A $100 deposit would hold a cabin until Feb. '09?

*If I ended up canceling, I'd get the deposit back if I did so by the final payment date?

*I'm not sure who'd be my travel companion yet, but I'm fine with an inside cabin.  Are any of those available?

Rich?  Is Rhonda correct?

I don't remember the deposit amount, Rhonda, but I know the deposit is refundable if you have to cancel BEFORE final payment is made.  Is that right, Rich?

Rhonda, the deposit is $500 for the cabin (that's Royal's group policy regardless of how many in the cabin, whether it's 1 or 4). The deposit is refundable until final payment in February.

Inside cabins are available, including the promenade view cabins (which are $766.84 pp, based on double occupancy, including port charges, fuel, and taxes). Lowest catgory, Q, is only $60 less per person.

Fuel surcharges are going up $2 per person per day on Monday. If the cruise is deposited by Sunday, the lower rate will be charged.

Hope you'll join us!!
