Do people really want to go into a Tropical storm or Hurricane to get to a port?  What a bunch of idiots!

If everything goes well in that situation and you are even able to dock, there is a great chance its gonna be raining anyway?

Sea Day # 1

After the crazy lady incident the rest of the day at Sea was great.  TW and I set up base camp on the main pool deck for a day of sun, fun and music.  The activities, music and the constant alcohol pushers (wearing red, white and blue), was similar to any day at sea on any other cruise line.  The day was filled with live music (the same band on every cruise), games and Fosters.  The kids came by from time to time with a waterslide update but other than that it was a normal day at sea.  We took a break from the deck only for food and an adult nap.

We went to dinner having all available excursions booked.  The wait staff was excellent and the food and selection was very good as well.  It was formal night so I followed TW around like a little puppy from set to set for the ultimate torture that is the formal family photograph session.  I hate it and God is gonna punish the cruise industry for having not only one but two of these nights of torture!  What the hell are we gonna do with another formal family photograph?  How many of these can we have still in the cardboard folder in the bottom of a drawer someplace?

After a decent Motown show in the theater we were off to Karaoke where I ended up singing, “Don’t let the Sun go down on me”  with my new German friend (save the gay jokes it was his call.)  I figured since he spoke about as much English as I spoke German, he should be the one to pick the song.  By that time we were so full of beer that the song choice really made no difference.  A couple we met from the Atlanta area got it on video and said it was going on you tube.  I don’t think I will be posting a link to it.  This song made the “I shot Mike Dawson” song look like a Grammy performance!

It was getting late and I could almost smell my beloved Jamaica as we got closer and closer.  The next morning I would awake in a port of my adoptive Motherland.

sorry that woman caused a chit storm, bama.  there is always at least one token psycho everywhere you go.  i'm glad no one else hopped on her bandwagon causing a repeat of what happened on miracle last month.

I will keep the rest of them private.  I won't show anyone the poems he wrote to Dawson or all the nakkie pics he wants me to forward to my DH....

Cabin number 8423.   If you walk forward through the sliding glass door from the pool deck, walk down one flight of stairs to your right, make a left at the hallway and it was the third door on the left!:flasher:

Ocho Rios Jamaica

Our first itinerary shift stop was Ocho Rios, Jamaica.  As most of you know my love for Jamaica has been documented as much as my love for Canadians.  We booked an Itinerary that did not include it and it was not enough for the cruise gods to keep me away from the Motherland!  Some may call it fate, others might call it chance but you must admit when you heard that Jamaica was one of our new ports of call you were not really surprised!

TW and I first visited Jamaica about twenty years ago at an All Inclusive called “Enchanted Gardens” that no longer exists.  It was a great place in the Mountains not far from the cruise ship dock.  I don’t even think the ships were coming to O.R. back then and if they were I don’t remember seeing them. Don’t really remember much of anything from that first trip.

Being on a Family vacation and the kids having never climbed Dunns River Falls the excursion for the day was a no brainer.  We booked the “Cool Runnings” catamaran and climb excursion and it was a blast.  They picked us up near the ship and we were off.  The boat ride over was smooth enough and fun was had by all.   They dropped us at the base of the falls and we were all briefed as to how to get up safely.  There were hundreds of people going up in two or three long chains.  We all made our chain and we were off.  The most important information when climbing the falls is to make sure you hold hands in the chain all the way up.  It was very slow but effective.  About half way up TW and DD decided for some reason to get out of line and do some climbing on their own.  I looked over as I heard DD say, “Hurry Mom” just as TW, in slow motion stepped off of the rock that she was on into the unknown.  There are some very deep water holes along the way and we had already established that.  In fact doing this twenty years later for me caution was something that I was focused on.  Not her!  Down she goes into the hole bouncing off of all the jagged rocks that were out of sight due to the water.  When she recovered and pulled herself out of the waist deep hole there was blood running down both legs and bruising already visible.  My first thought was that I have never been to a Jamaican Hospital, I wonder what its like?  As it turned out there were no broken bones and she finished the climb to the very top.  She was banged up and bruised and she never got out of the chain again.

After over an hour on the falls I made record time getting back down the Catamaran to find my smokes due to nicotine fit and I knew the rum was soon to flow!  DS was just behind me trying to keep up asking, “why are you walking so fast?”  I told him I just wanted to get back to the boat as I left him behind.  I got to the dock almost running to the backpack on board, dumped it, fired up a smoke as life was good again.  DS showed up a minute later followed by TW and DD asking where did you disappear? LMAO!

We set up on the Catamaran on the forward on the starboard side.  The kids went to the very front.  The rum punch and music began to flow as we headed toward Cuba.  Things started out great as the Cat would dip her nose into the waves up and down and spray everyone in our area.  The kids loved it as the rode the front rail like a bull at the rodeo.  The spray became more and more until the nose of the cat completely dipped below the water surface scooping thousands of gallons of the sea onto the front of the boat taking down everything in its path.  There were bodies and debris everywhere.  I looked down through the rum that had splashed in my eyes from the drink I was holding to see TW and the kids flapping on deck like fish out of water. The most amazing thing about the entire incident was the two Jamaican girls that were dancing in front never missed a freaking beat!  The clean up was quick and the laughs continued to the rest of the trip, as did the rum!

Got off the Cat for some Coffee and souvenir shopping and it was back to the ship for a nap.

BAMA,

I have done charity work in Jamaica and visited the hospitals to give money. Believe me, you do not, ever, ever, want to go to them for any reason:shocked:
