Becky, I don't know if you have ever taken a Tauck tour before, but they are really good. We did our week in London and Paris with them and everything is first class. They are more expensive, but worth it from what we experienced. We would have used their tour of Italy, but the Perillo was better timewise (and cost) for us.

I know that Tauck and Abercrombie & Kent are the best out there and I wanted to be well taken care of.  They were about the same price (OUCH!) but Tauck had a much better itinerary for Egypt and Jordan.  They also used better hotels everywhere except Amman.

I also liked that Tauck takes you to the Egyptian museum at the end of the Egypt portion so what you see there will be more meaningful since we will have already visited the sites the artifacts came from. A&K does it the first day.

The final straw in my decision between the two was the way the visas are handled.  A&K refers you to their visa service and wanted $153 for the Egypt visas and $156 for the Jordan ones (per couple).  Tauck, on the other hand, tells you on their website that visas are easily obtained in the Cairo airport for $15 pp and the Jordan visas will be obtained for us by our tour director and are included in the tour price.

Gee, should we spend $309 or $30 for the same thing?  That really rubbed me wrong.

Al and Becky - glad your cruise plans are coming together.  So, exciting.  Europe and Egypt will be in our plans ONE day! :big grin:

Sorry to hear about the cruise for the October Dream falling through for so many Fools. :(

Speaking of cruises - I just booked my parents and 2 of their friends on the 10/19/08 Dawn to Bermuda.  Sorry SJ, I couldn't convince them to go up to Boston.

The 13 night Spirit repo to New Orleans and the 12 night Jewel repo to Miami were really good deals and tempting but they decided not to have to fly back or take the extra days off.

With the Dawn, they could attend morning church services before the cruise and go straight to church after the cruise.

I used my NCL credit card to pay for their cruise.  :big grin:  The 4% rewards is pushing me a little bit closer to another $500 voucher. :bunny:

Grace gotta love those $500 vouchers, makes paying the bills a little easier :P Can't blame your parents for not wanting to fly, who does these days.

Becky I also can't wait to hear all about it. When are you leaving? $309 or $30 a no brain-er :sheep:

Al, your time is coming soon :bananas: you leave August 10th or around there, right? Wine and watermelon sounds good to me :partytime:

SJ, what have you decided to do? It's a hard decision but hey a cruise to Bermuda can't be too bad, even without the fools.

Where has Heidi been? She's not on a cruise,;) is she? Also where's Karen? She posts most everyday too.

Jerry got his truck back tonight:bouncy:

Believe it came to $489.00 just below the deductible, plus the tow bill of $110. We think and are hoping his insurance will cover the tow if not he will get the difference after $500 from the insurance company.

Off to search for a room Sat. night near Bushkill Falls, PA any suggestions Al?

We're looking for clean and reasonable, as we will only be there long enough to get a few hours sleep before getting up early for hiking. I think I will priceline or hotwire it. What's the area forecast for the weekend? I need to check that first.:eyeroll:

Judy, accuweather forecast for Stroudsburg (not that far away) is Sat H81 L63, evening rain, Sun H82 L63 partly sunny.

Here's a Falls website: http://www.visitbushkillfalls.com/ They have downloadable trail maps.

I'm not sure about lodging since it's been a long time since we were there and it's usually a day trip for us :). I know that there are a lot of resorts which this time of year can be pricey. Not sure what you'll find on priceline or hotwire

Hi everyone,

It was a long day.  I got up at 5.  Today was my meeting and although it went well, it didn't go well for the company and I didn't come out with a payment ($80,000).  My boss was pissed but we have a couple of things that we have to work through and then they will overnight us a check so that we get it on Friday.  Now if I could get my boss' sister in law to come off her high horse and cooperate things would move faster.  I can't believe that he brought her back after I fired her and now we are back to the same old, same old.  I will have a lot to say about it tomorrow morning when I meet with my boss.

Becky that trip sounds awesome.  I would love to be swimming and looking at pyramids.  I am glad that the hotel thing worked out for you.  Now to just get the banking thing settled.

Kathy good luck with whatever you choose for this job opportunity.  Everything happens for a reason.

Sharon I was wondering where you had been as I hadn't remembered seeing posts from you lately.  Tom has been posting a bit and that is good to see.  I hope you are both well.

Grace I was looking at the 10/19 Dawn cruise to Bermuda.  Unfortunately it isn't going to work for us this year.  I hope your parents enjoy it.  How are the girls doing this summer?  Are they enjoying their vacation?

Joanne if the in-laws get out of line in August, just numb your pain with some mooseheads.

Judy that is good that Jerry's truck is fixed.  Hopefully all the deductibles will work out for both of you.  I am glad that your daughter and the baby are ok.  How much longer does she have to go?

SJ how is the dog?  Did you get any results yet?   Keeping my fingers crossed for all of you.  How is the bathroom coming along?  I can understand about the cruise, but, if you and Thomas went I am sure you would both it enjoy tremendously, just without the Fools.

Lee I think I would collapse every night after all the activities you have with the kids.  It keeps you young though.  I hope Joe's job doesn't cause you all grief though.  Such a stressful time.

Marie posts mostly on the weekends.  I hope her daughter is ok after that accident.  Insurance companies sure have a way to make things more difficult than they need to.

Where has Heidi been?  Hopefully staying cool and not working too hard.

I am off for some relaxing.  I guess tomorrow is going to be another long day for me in the office.  I did get good news from my brother today.  He applied for a promotion at the School District he works for and was interviewed last Wednesday.  He was told today that he got the job.  He is super excited....and his wife gets to come home from the hospital tomorrow.  She has been in for 2 weeks with an infection.  My niece will be happy to have her Mom home.

Have a good night.

Thanks Al.

Weather looks good. I talked with my GF tonight and we deiced to do a day trip instead of staying overnight, we will get an early start and make it a long day. It's about a 2 1/2 -3 hour drive for us. That 35 mph is a killer on rt 209.;)  :big grin:

We are going to the flea market in the early morning and then hiking Bushkill Falls. Back packing lunch so no wasted time there. We still might change our minds :picture:

Judy your daughter must be so excited about this baby...but, I am sure whatever happened to her made her a nervous wreck.  I will say prayers for her.

My brother is in the Maintenance and Grounds Dept.  I can't be 100% positive but I think his title now will be Head of M & G.  He has been with them for over 25 years already.  He works hard and definately deserved the promotion.  He is very excited.

I thought I wanted to go to sleep early tonight and now I can't sleep.  My mind is working overtime.  I hope to get in to sleep after the news is over.

We had a bit of a rain storm tonight.  It came down in buckets for a little while.  Everyone have a good day tomorrow.

Good Over the hump day!!!!

Karen, that's great for your brother, on July first our district let go our Buildings and Grounds director. I still can't believe it , as he was a hard worker and our district is big we have 14 schools and a total of I think 17 buildings and now no one is in charge. I must add they are old buildings :big grin: Our HS I think was built  around  like 1915-1920 so it needs lots of work. Our taxpayers did not approve a new HS a few years ago.

I wish we would get some rain we REALLY need it. It looked like it wanted to but never did. Maybe today.

Yes, my dd has to be so careful after losing the baby last year on the 4th of July and all the problems she had having her first one who was 7 in April. She had an issues with lost of fluids. Had many tests done and she is okay but no reason to why it happened.

Well have a great all everyone only 3 more to go before the weekend.

Good morning fools...rain, rain go away...it's my last week to enjoy being a "lady of leisure".  Monday I start my position as Operations Manager for a newly formed financial services dealership.  This morning I have to review my 10 page offer of employment.   It's been a while since I've accepted a job...when did it become like signing your life away????  :shoot me:

Seriously though, it's an excellent offer and I'm thrilled.  I can still work from home as I see fit, and he has offered me unlimited vacation (within reason) as long as my work is not encumbered.  So I'm not giving a whole lot up and I'm gaining a salary and a great challenge.

But as far as the Dream cruise goes, the timing just doesn't work.

I didn't see SJ post yesterday...I hope she's not too upset with us.

Good but damp (and humid) morning.

Lots to read this morning :big grin:.

Karen, I would like to be a fly on the wall when you talk to the boss today. At least the trip was ok. Congrats to your brother.

Judy, I know what you mean about 209. And the worst part about that 35 is that they actually enforce it! Of course I can remember pre-federal takeover time that you would get behind 3 trucks and it would be worse. Still kind of a shame all those places taken over for Tocks Island which never happened. BTW, people who drive in the area hate the flea market :P.

Kathy, congrats and good luck. Sounds like a great opportunity!

We're supposed to get very heavy rains today. I'm glad we are in no danger of flooding. We could use rain, but not downpours. Had a thunderstorm around 4 this morning.

Just a quick hello

Too much going on to even come on .I am on the computer all day but now it's become a job;) Looks like I may have a little job and I can make some pocket money since they are pretty empty right now .I would still be able to be home when I have to be and I am an independent contractor so I make my own hours .I have a few things lined up but I need to keep looking and get more work .

Sj Please Please don't be upset .I never ever thought that you were paying this week and we were waiting till we knew absolutely what was going on .We just cancelled on Monday and Joe pretty much found out on Thursday what was going on .

I am leaving to go out but I am going to talk to you later.

No, I am not upset. I just am having a tough time deciding what to do.

But, all my "should we go, should we cancel" might end up being moot, because my Master Card vouchers may have already gone through. I sent them last week and they go to a different location then where my TA is. (I think she works from home and the main office is in Port Saint Lucie, Florida). My TA hasn't actually found out if they were sent in or not.

I have to give her a call soon. Maybe she has found out by now.

So, if they went through, we ARE GOING and if they are still on someone's desk, well, I think I am leaning towards cancelling.

This cruise was a different kind of booking, I booked to enjoy the company of friends, and even though I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE being with Thomas, and I have LOVED, LOVED, LOVED ALL the cruises I have taken with him. I think I would be quite dissapointed that the rest of you weren't there.......:(

We still have EIGHT DAY'S IN GRAND CAYMAN next year to look forward too...!!!

EIGHT DAY'S of LOT'S of Sun, Surf, Snorkeling and Sand......:loungingsun:

It looks like my downstair's Bathroom will probably NOT be 100% finished by time my party gets here.

Well, the toilet and sink of course will be fine, just the shower won't.

Thomas got the cement board up, but cleaning up the backs of like 130 pieces if tile is taking MUCH, MUCH, MUCH LONGER then Thomas thought/expected.

After trial and error, he has found that scraping the old cement off by hand works the best. Which, as you can imagine, is EXTROADINARILY TIME CONSUMING.....!!!

Because, Thomas is trying to be VERY, VERY, VERY CAREFULL to NOT chip or scrap any of the tile. Because we DON'T have any backup tile......

So far, after two days, he has 25 tiles done. So, it is going to take awhile......;)

Especially, when, like today he is up at the Trolley Museum, and tomorrow he will be going to the Plaza. Next week too, he will be up at the Trolley Museum one day and the Plaza another.

SOMETIME in August it should be completed.......:smiley1:

Judy, I TRULY HOPE that ALL GOES WELL for your DD.......

Maybe she should be on bed rest, my Mom was with me, if I remember correctly what she told me, she had preeclampsia. I still came two month's early though. (believe it or not, I weighed 3 pounds 2 ounces).
