Hello NCL experts,
I heard some things today that I thought I would share. Maybe someone has insight to these or can comment.
I was at a travel show today in Boston and I was speaking to the NCL Rep. We were talking about the changes and ships and I mentioned that I was originally on the Jade 2-day from NYC but switched to the Dream 2-day out of Boston. She said that it was a good thing that I switched and she told me that she just received word that the NCL Jade will be staying in Europe all year and not coming to NYC after all.
I told her that I was suprised at this since there are usually 2 ships in NYC in the summer and at least 1 in the winter. She did not have an answer but she did not think that NYC would be without a ship in the winter ( I could not remember if the Gem was back to NYC next winter but I believed it was).
She told me that NCL was going to begin to inform people of this starting on Monday. I looked at the NCL website and the Jade NYC sailings are still there.
I also heard that Costa will having some sailings out of Boston in 2009.
Has anyone else heard any of this?

Correct - but if the Jade stays in Europe then no cruise next year. No Jade this year.

Very possible - Just think for a minute. They are still selling Jade from NYC cruises but the report is they are going to start notifying people Monday. They stopped selling POAL cruises for a month before they announced they were pulling it.

I hope NCL doesn't stick us with the 7-night FL/Bahamas cruises from NYC for most of the winter !!! We're running out of options!!

You never can tell what they will do, but the NCL ships have been sailing at capacity, why take a ship out of here. Look at the prices they were getting for the Gem for this year.

Exactly why they may consider one ship

Now it is nice that we live in the north middle of the states...flying is close to the same distance to any coast, east, west or south

I thought there was 2 now, but I see it's only one. They have 2 all summer.
HAL is leaving NY because even with the fuel surcharge they're not making their margins.

I will not believe it until it is confirmed. I just emailed my PCC and ask her to investigate! Who knows, maybe my PCC checks her work email on the week end...Dave does and I assume Jim does.

Your welcome.
As a rule the PCCs sitting out west are the last to know. When the cancelled the first NYC Gem Cruises to keep the Gem in Europe and extra month they were not aware until after the press release. They had no idea why bookings stopped on the POAM and POAL earlier this year until we did.
That said it can not hurt to ask
PS - things that make me wonder - Why would they raise the fares a couple $100 this past week if they were going to cancel tomorrow ?
