If flights and UK prices stay high I think there will be something if it ends up that just the two of us can do this one.
Airfare got better today. Here is the rub. My flight on the 11th would be 11:30 am. We dock at 6:00 am. Who thinks I can make with an NCL transfer. No direct train.

Our Ship as she looks today

I need to reread Phil's how to pack the laundry bag.
The self service laundry will be removed during the dry dock in Spain. So make sure you get your laundry done before the ship gets to Europe.

Seems strange that they are planning to remove the self service laundry rooms when they are on the other Jewel class ships.
There used to be a direct train from Southampton to Gatwick (OK, this was over 20 years ago) - maybe Phil knows for sure? That's assuming it is Gatwick you're flying from!

We used the Gatwick train last year after a TA but was not showing on the winter schedules it takes 2hours, 1 an hour, so would be tight for an 11:30 flight, possible but not a lot of room for delays.
New summer timetables will operate from mid May no idea when they will be published.
Laundry removal seems to be a bad move, especialy since it will be doing the 14night round trips during the school hols, interesting to hear the reasons for this one.

I missed a 12pm flight out of Heathrow once with a NCL transfer when I sailed into Southampton.

Welcome aboard - Sorry I missed your post last week. Not much info on the Jade yet. She was the Pride of HI and a sister ship to the Jewel. Several of the folkks here including myself have been on the Jewel, the Pearl, and the Gem all very simikar to the Jade.
The Jade is currented headed to drydock for 2 weeks to transform from the Pride. They are removing cabins to make room for a new casino. Getting some of the HI decorations out. My understanding the Jade will be the first NCL ship set up with all the new Freestyle 2.0 upgrades. We should have all new bedding, upgrade to action stations in the buffet, new menus, and even sleepersofas added to some of the suites.
I think in many ways she will be like a new ship

From a guy who actually is on board the Jade:
"We just attended a Q&A session with the Hotel Director, Chief Engineer and the Captain. One question was about the changes that will happen to the ship after this cruise has completed. The Hotel Director said that a full casino will be added but not many other changes will be made. The carpet will be replaced and toned-down with less red hues. Other than that, artwork and names will remain, with the exception of the kids areas and the buffet (will drop the name Aloha Nui). "

Thabnks for the picture. Your time lapse from the canal just made it to CC. Someone posted it in the roll call from the cruise. No hint where it came from but this comment:
Wow - this has to be one of the best postings I have seen on CruiseCritic. Really cool.

Just been looking to see if the maximum occupancy of any of the suites has increased - NO!
Also noticed that the price for the AFs seems to have dropped (could be a special but nothing showing this on the website).

Hi Calmac,
how are you?

First it was a drop of US$ 100 and now another US$ 50.

Hi Petra, I'm feeling well thanks and on holiday this week which is even better
We're planning on booking a cruise on the Jade for next April but we're waiting to see if they increase the maximum numbers which can go in an AE or AD as the 3 of us will be going.
At the moment it looks as though we won't know for definite if I can sail at the end of June before final payment is due so we will probably have to cancel BUT with the full intention of rebooking and being on the Jade as she sails out of Southampton on Sunday 29th June.

I saw the price drop last week ($300 total) and sent an email to my new PCC. I have heard nothing back yet. I miss Daylene. Maybe I will email her today to see if infact the sofa beeds where added. Last time I looked there was only one AE open. Only one A3 as well so I guess no $1000 upsell offer this cruise.

The last time I tried to contact our new PCC I never heard from him so contacted Daylene who responded as quickly as always. When we had to cancel the South American cruise I just contacted Daylene directly and it was cancelled straight away and our credit card account was credited 1 week later - couldn't have had better service.

Jim, was Daylene able to provide any information in relation to the sofa beds in suites?
If your airfare drops enough you'll manage a saving!
