Shock, horror - my parents have changed their minds and have decided to join us on this cruise. Callum will be VERY happy when he hears the news - he's been asking them to cruise with us since the end of cruise #1.
Jim, I e-mailed Jay last night to ask if I could add my parents cabin to our reservation but he says I need a new reservation for them - is that right?
I'll update the roll call once the booking has been made which will be this evening when I'm at home. Keep your fingers crossed that the handicapped cabin next to Laurel and Charlie's will still be available this evening!

Flight alert.
Expedia have some offers for BA flights LHR-JFK available at £250. tried the other way round and still £500, Might be a way to get it to work something cheaper.

I just checked JFK fares non stop - do they all just check with each other and post fares
BA 1045 US
AF 1045
Cont. 1045
Delta 1045
all the rest a little more except
Air India 812
AA - 1004
Funny even Air Ligus with a connection is more then all of tha above at 1061.
I have to save $200 of a EWR flight to cover the added car service cost to get to JFK.
Right now the best fare from EWR is 1045
Reversed the search on Kayak LHR, JFK,JFK, LHR same dates
Air India 658 US
AA 704
Delta 727
BA 729
AF 750
Cont 813
The Tampa trip on BA is $300 less when reversed.

Makes a change for us in the UK to have the best deals, these BA deals with expedia may cause some movement elsewhere.

On the Cruise Air board on CC someone mentioned flying from the US to Paris (CDG) then from CDG to Southampton - might be worth looking into? I think it was with Air France but not 100% sure.

I just checked out all the optoins connecting to SOU. In fact Delta to Manchester connecting after 4 hours Flybe to Sou is the cheapest $1133 from JFK. Forget EWR. 13 hours over 25 hours on the return thru Turnhouse
Air France $1193 - 1 am depature JFK arrive SOU at 4:35 via Paris. The latest return is 9:10 am. $1233 and I can depart SOU at 5:10 pm.
I will keep looking but the Cont. to Gatwick arriving at the same time as Patrick and the train to Southampton for $1045 is sounding better all the time. I can be there before noon, Return from LHR at 4 pm. Anyone think I can make a 11:20 am from Gatwick ? I know in Barcelona when we docked at 6 am I was off the ship by 6:30 am.

I was told it was last week - is that right? My reliable (?) source lives in Munich but he's currently working in Heidelberg where I was for a couple of days last week and a couple of days this week (just back). I still don't speak German though and for the next few months I expect to be in Heidelberg for 1 or 2 nights most weeks. Guess I better start learning.

It's starts on Nov 11th and ends on Ash Wednesday.
This year the main days were from Thursday Jan 31st to Tuesday Feb 5th. How to party differs from region to region ... from "Karneval" to "Fasching".
What are you doing in Heidelberg? SAP?

I'm working at Heidelberger Leben which is on the outskirts of Heidelberg (Forum 7 if that means anything to you?). I work for HBOS which Heidelberger Leben is a part of and the project I'm working on is looking at a new business in Germany with most of the project team currently based in Heidelberg. I'm providing project office support for the HR workstream of the project. Just to add some extra complication, the person I will be reporting to on the project is based in Luxembourg. I expect to spend one or two nights each week in Heidelberg between now and the end of the summer, except for when we're cruising of course The building is on top of a hill and we're on the top (17th) floor so I'll be taking my camera along when the weather improves.

We're exactly the same except I haven't checked that my parents would be happy if we moved.
Am I right in thinking that the bathrooms in the AE are the same as those in the AF?
Also, having linked our booking with my parents' booking, if we moved to an AE, would they be allowed to join us for breakfast and lunch at Cagney's?
Sorry, a bit of "20 questions" above but not quite as bad as my dad's questioning of me about the ship just a few minutes ago!

At least one AB is back
No problem bringing your parents to Cagney's. They may need to be with you to get in however.

I expect(hoping) they will come and go, our 4berth booking is on hold pending passenger availability.
If flights and UK prices stay high I think there will be something if it ends up that just the two of us can do this one.
