I was thinking of putting the deposit down today for an inside cabin on this cruise.   The thought of an inside cabin pains me after the A3 and no breakfast or lunch at Cagney's :(

Even for me the prices are a bit of sticker shock on this cruise. I would have been waiting this ine out if I did not get in the cancelation mess for my Feb. cruise. I have to look at the waived cancelation fees as a discount. Makes me feel better.

Book and we can all watch the fares together and jump on every price decline if they happen. At some point the AFs will have to be more then the BAs. The question is do they raise the AFs or lower the BAs.

We will eat in Cagney's even if I have to email Klaus for HELP :partytime:

Sorry to here that Feb did not work out, but work is there to help pay for these things, I am working today(a bit) and did a couple of days last week, used up all the vacation time and more last year and not wasting a days worth this year if I can help it.

I guess one option is to book the inside/OV to lock us in and then see what happens, If this trip is anything like the TA with the shore time and eating time we won't see the cabin that much anyway. We also have some budget left from last year, two TA helped and the Gem TA was steal in the end.

I have to say we were very well looked after on both our Gem trips this year(the Jade team have a lot to live up to) so perhaps I should just cough up and give NCL some money, did I really say that:shock:.

We are also watching the Gen 7n out of BCN since there is a chance we can snag a bargain on one of those, as a filler before June, if prices drop

Did you purchase one of the Lattitude deposit offers onboard. You end up holding a cruise for $150. On second thought is that another offer that only US passengers can take advantage of. :nono:

Amazingly, this offer was open to all but, due to bizarre NCL logic, we ended up with a pounds sterling amount.

I was just thinking about that, we have two of those, they are supposed to be fully usable worldwide.

But do they work for suites which have new higher non refundable deposits, be handy if we go for a share in an AB.

To cancel on cost grounds would go against my Rule 1: only book a cabin you will be happy with at a price you are happy with, but would limit risk for other reasons such as health allthough we are covered by insurance.

ABs are not included in the new suite deposit rules. AA+ are effected.

One of those would hold an AB.

Come on. You can spend sea days on the giant deck 11 extended aft balcony with all of the rest of us. I think we need to get the A3 out of our system. It was like Santa dropped by early. What better way to cleanse then an inside cabin

I have to confess. I have never cruised in an inside cabin and don't plan on starting yet.

It would be tough only having a bed for the luggage rather than a room.

Yes staying in an inside cabin would definitely bring me back to the real world quickly.  No courtyard naps! I have stayed in an inside cabin before and don't really have a problem with them as long as it isn't on the bottom deck.  The inside cat. I am looking into is on deck 11 and there are some available aft.  But then with the prices on this cruise if they offered me a broom closet at a better price I would take it.

Had to cancel my Feb Gem cruise. Sometimes work gets in the way. I saw you were looking for a June cruise jump onboard. Not a bargain but an itinerary you may never see again.

Sorry Shoreguy. I looked but was too overwhelmed by the price. Figure $2,500 per person for the lowest ocean view and then another $200 for taxes, fuel surcharges and fees and that's $2,700. Multiply that by two because of the wife and then add another $1,000 or $2,000 for airfare, not to mention the on board account charges, and its just too much for me. I can sail on three or four other cruises for that price. Hopefully I'll get to sail with you on another sometime.

You are correct - The master bedroom has a true queen size and can not be set up as a twin. Same think in all the AEs ADs ACs........in fact all the penthouses

Who is planning to stay in Southampton prior to the cruise ? I think this time we will book our own air. NCL air works for me the day of since they have always but me on a Virgin nonstop from Newark. Patrick from Tampa has been a nightmare in the past routing him thru Chicago or Newark with long layovers making for a 16 hour trip. He can get a nonstop on BA to Gatwick for a couple dollars more if you take transfers into account. That said booking our own flights we need to come in a day early.

Two questions. Hotel in Southampton ?

Earliest flight we can book for the return ? Ship docks at 6 am. I figure the first NCL coach around 8 getting to Gatwick around 10 so I was thinking after 12 noon would be safe.

I sure hope the air fares drop in the next montth or so. Right now it is $1200 from Tampa and $1050 from EWR.  NCL with transfers TPA $1304, EWR $1154

Happy New Year everyone!

For those of you NOT in the UK (so that rules Phil out!) - there are a couple of 2-nighters out of Southampton, one either side of the Norway cruise.  Not being advertised on ncl.com but prices (in pounds sterling) via ncl.co.uk.  We're leaving our options open - we're flying to So'ton (common abbreviation for Southampton) on Friday 27th June.  In case the prices don't drop enough (!) for the 2-nighter we've also booked a refundable room in Jurys Inn http://southamptonhotels.jurysinns.com/  We stayed there the night before the Pearl TA.  Decent location at good price.

Since I last looked I'm fairly sure the AF prices have dropped by $50pp - not much but every little bit helps.  Can't say about other categories except AB is still the same :(

Southampton tend to clear ships quickly and no imigration/customs queues so as long as you can get off early(I know it is not a problem) train back to Gatwick would work as long as we are not late in a couple of hours for checkin at gatwick can be tight if very busy but doable.  When I looked there were no Sunday trains but if in a day early Sat or Friday morning(if you want to try for the 2 n) would be fine and a return ticket is only a couple of $ more than a single <$60.

Hotels, we drive, my parents use the Hilton which has parking included but is a bit out, there are a few close to the town centre/port.

The only remaining aft facing AF is the handicapped accessible one - 11654.  I'm totally convinced my parents WON'T be joining us so no need to keep it for them!
