Still a while to go but we have contacted Alla and Denrus and are trying to put together an 8-person group for a 2-day custom tour.  We have selected an itinerary and have different price quotes according to the actual number of people.  Eight seems to be the ideal number to get maximum value for money at a cost much cheaper that the cruise line excursions while benefiting from a more personalized small group atmosphere.  Who knows how long it takes 50 people to go to the restroom...We really don't want to find out.

Hi, its good to see you here.  I think you've got our info already for the St Petersburg tour - have you heard from anyone else?

Hi Seawitches,

We have read great things about the Baltic cruise and are really excited.  Our plans right now are to go into London a few days early or fly into Paris, then take the Eurostar to London.  It looks like most of the ports are very "do-able" on your own so we will do most things ourselves.  When were in New York this summer we really enjoyed the Hop on - Hop off bus and most of the ports have this as an option.  I'd like to do a canal tour in Denmark and do the Ice Bar in Finland just to say we were there.

We are hoping to get with a group to do a private tour of St. Petersburg for the 2 days we are there.  Taxmantoo has been working on arranging this and I think we'll find others to join us closer to our sail date.

For now the plans are to find great airfares, book our hotel for fantastic bargains, load up on storage for the digital camera and continue to surf the net for other ideas!! :big grin:

pcur is the queen of Ho Ho's (hop on hop off's) I think she posted a Ho Ho link. I'll try and find.
We haven't made any definate plans yet, but are actively researching. I will get to Scandanavia in the next two years if it kills me.
I think you're right about the ports being doable on your own, except for St Petersburg. Some of those excursions are big $$
I'd be interested in hearing from someone who has done the excursion with the flight to Moscow. Terrified to think of the planes that are used (or should I say the ones that are in need of new parts??)

Anybody else booked on this cruise yet?

We have a private organized tour in the making with Anastasia which is getting very nice reviews.  We are currently six and would like to make it a group of 8 to maximize savings.

Anyone interested can e-mail us at louis.beaudry@rogers.com and I will gladly forward all the details.
