That is great, I won't get myself in trouble over here, I can't tell you how many times I was in hot water before.   I see you were on the Gem, how was it, did you like it?   Where did you go.   Where the colors as bright as the pictures seem to be of the ships interior?   How many resteraunts did you try, what was your favorite?

thanks

Mary

I know about hot water! I defended SG on the Dark Side and got banned! I'm kind of proud of that, actually. :angeldevil1: Kind of the opposite of WC Fields' saying  about (paraphrasing here) "Any club that would have me as a member I would not want to be a member of" . I look at it as "Any club that would NOT want me as a member, I would not want to be a part of (because the obviously dun't know how to take a joke)"!:finger::big grin:

I loved the Gem. But I have loved every ship I have been on, I must admit. I just love cruises, period. My husband & I got married on the Gem in Feb so I will probably always like that one best. Yup, the colors are bright. But it works. As for the restaurants ... I loved the main restaurants on the Gem. Food was wonderful--not always the case on the Dawn and Spirit. But that was before NCL made a point of upgrading the "dining experience". The buffet knocked our socks off--Joe has always been a big fan of the buffets, but I have always just kind of gone along, not all that impressed. But the buffet on the Gem was awesome. Lots of food we like and eat.

I'm probably not the best person to ask about restaurants because Joe and I don't eat like normal Americans. :big grin: He does not eat meat or seafood. I eat seafood, but not fish really, and for meat I really only eat chicken. Oh, and perfectly done bacon, go figure. So that limits our "favorites". We both like Cagney's--but that's because about once a year we have beef. We used to love Le Bistro, but it no longer offers a vegetarian entree which SUCKS. The Asian was awesome. The Italian was awesome one night and mediocre the second note. The Tex-Mex was really good. We regret not getting back to that a second time.

Greenie, congrads on your wedding, ON THE GEM, how great.   I too love crusing, never been on a bad one.   Thanks for all the info on the Gem, I would like to sail her one day, I am hoping to sail on every NCL ship, so I am hitting the older ones now, as they will be retiring them some day, sooner than we might expect.    Great to talk to you

He's my photo man, :big grin:  he just remembers to take pictures sometimes (he has large pockets in his pants/shorts to carry the camera;)) when he is not with Pete that is!

Sharon, I am glad Dave is the Photo Man. If I have a Martoonie, I just forget to take pictures. Does anyone know if they do a Martini Tasting on a one night cruise?

I booked my room, I am deck 6, midship. When I booked, I asked the girl with CAS and she said we get the drink for free card on a one night cruise also.

Casino at Sea is the NCL gambling marketing department. You can get a card onboard and it is free. Like any caino you get rated and earn points. Depending on how you are rated (how much you gamble) you can book cruises with them at a discount. Spend $5000 :shock:you can get a free cruise. In my case I got about a 20% discount for this crusie. This is the first time I booked with them.

Bummer...but I understand the work issue thingy. We will miss meeting you and Scott but who knows, maybe someday in the future we will cruise together. :(

Aw, I'm sorry. That is a bummer indeed. Well, maybe the bunch on the 11th will be ALMOST as fun as we are. ;) You will have fun anyway and we'll probably meet sometime in the future on another cruise!

I do hope I get to meet you all, at some time in cruising.   So far, no one has added to the 11th roll call, who knows.   It even cost me $20.00 more to move to the same cabin a week later, and I didn't even want to change.   I hope you don't mind if I come over and say hey once in awhile.   Funny how you can feel you know people so fast.    It must be the cruise travel friendship thing.

take care

Think about cruising with your daughter alone on the 10/4 cruise. Two cruises in a week...:big grin:

Oh how sad was that, I am so sorry to hear that.   I hope you did not lose all that money!!!   Picking a new date is a lot better than not going at all.   Shore guy, I will have to keep watching when you are cruising.   Some day I want to meet you and all the neet people on these boards.

take care, Mary
