Hi Mew1--I am going on this 1-nighter with my oldest (as in most long-time!;)) friend. A few others on these boards will be on it, too--Sharon, her DH Dave, Chris and her DH Jimmy plus a friend of theirs.

I've never been on a 1-nighter--but I had/have post-cruise depression so I just went ahead and booked it. What the heck, right?! :big grin: I have been on the Spirit--she's a beauty of a ship. Slightly smaller than the Dawn, but in a good way.

Hi Mew1. Welcome to CTT and to the cruise. :big grin: I'm Sharon that Greenie mentioned.

Haven't done the Spirit, we will do that Oct 4.

We did do the Gem two nighter last Dec. The night is one busy, fun night. Everything was there to enjoy as if it were a longer cruise. I think we might have another person joining us on this cruise who will be lots of fun.

Hi, my name is Mary, I am so excited to be going on this one nighter.  I will be going with my husband Scott, my Mom, Ellen, and my dd, Darla.   As I mentioned this will be her 21st birthday celebration.   I can already feel the excitement of this cruise.   You sound like a great fun group.   I am enjoying this site.   I just found it when I followed a post looking for shore guy.   Yes I've traveled from the dark side.   I am glad to hear so many people like the Spirit.   I am going on the Majesty in Sept. with DH, then this one nighter, exciting I will then be SILVER latitude.   Glad I found this board and this group.   Is it hard to get to the port and park, this will be my first time out of NYC.   The Majesty leaves from Philly.   Looking forward to getting to know you all on the board.

Thanks, Mary (mew1)

Hi Mary.  We are driving from MN for this one nighter and then we have the Jewel leaving Oct 8 that we will be on. As far as getting to port, others can provide better directions than I, but the parking is right next to the cruise terminal, at least it was for the Gem in Feb. :big grin:

What other ships have you been on? We have been on the Wind which is gone now, the Star, the Pearl and the Gem. We  love the ships and freestyle cruising. ;)

SHOREGUY!!   Now How great is that news, I have never been on a cruise with you before but you have helped me many times on the dark side with questions.   You always helped so many people, now I must plan to have a drink (of your choice) together on the ship.   I must introduce you to my husband Scott, and I would love to meet you.

This trip is getting better and better.    Alway have wondered how many cruises have you been on, you seem to know all the lines.

Hi Mary,

I am Chris .As Greenie mentioned I  will be on the SPIRIT too, along with DH Jimmy and our closest friend Gail.Look forward to sailing with you.

We did a 1 nighter on the GEM in December .It was a lot of fun and we slept for about an hour:P It was a great as we did a 10 GEM cruise in Feb and we already knew our way around.

We drove to the pier both times and will drive again to catch the SPIRIT. Cruising out of New York is beautiful IMHO. But, I am a native New Yorker ;)

dwist,   Hi, I am glad to hear you will be on the spirit too, this crazy group should meet somewhere!!!  I have been on the Jewel twice and POA, I also did some Carnival and DIsney when Darla was young.   I love cruising.   Have you ever been on the Jewel, she is beautiful, my favorite ship so far.   Cagneys and Lobster is a must and I love MaMa's Italian.   Cruising to me is the only way to vacation, but every once in awhile DH wants to do land trips, he loves Europe and he can only take one week at a time, so most cruises to Europe are out.  Next spring he wants to go to England.   It is wonder to meet all of you.

Thanks, Mary

Hi Chris,   my husband lived in NYC till he was about 12, so he loves to go and visit.   I know he will have no problem with the pier.   This one day cruise is going to be a lot of fun.   So you were on the Gem, I understand it is HUGE and very colorful.   I love ncl, I have had such wonderful cruises on that line.   Disney was wonderful when Darla was younger but ncl has so much more for my DH to do.   He likes the casino, I never go in, hate the smoke!!  Glad I found this new site.

take care, Mary

Mary, we are doing a land trip next month. MY DH will be working nights as we travel.  We are heading to Canada to see our daughter and her family, then onto Quebec to meet some other cruisers that we cruised with last Feb, then down to Atlanta to see our other daughter and her family. Of course we will be stopping to visit friends along the way. :big grin: Thank you for the info about the Jewel. We have done Cagney's and lobster a few times and love it.

If you pause the cursor over the emoticons, they tell you what they mean. :martini:

Shoreguy is not a devil in person, but maybe he can be on the boards.

I hope you know that was only a joke about shoreguy, I think the world of him, he helped answer many questions on the Dark side.   He is like a legion.   I hope to get to meet him on this cruise.   Truly he is very helpful person, he seems to have found a nice new home over here, I must say it is a very friendly place.   Seems to be a lot of poster that like ncl too.   Thanks for explaining the emoticons, I will take time to understand them before using this time.:big grin:  thanks again, Mary

Tried to book today before the fuel surcharge goes up. After 30 minutes on hold with Casinos at Sea I had to move on to my next call

Mary, I'm sorry I wasn't clear. I was teasing about Shoreguy. Please forgive me if I made you uncomfortable. You can post anything and most people will not be offended, including me. By the way, Greenie and I like tequila shots...care to join us on the Spirit? :shottime:

ps...there are more emoticons, see more at the bottom of the window for emoticons...:bootyshake:

I will be. I just have not booked it yet. I was going to do it last week when I paid my final for the Jade in June but decided to try booking with CAS. I just have not beem able to hook up with them to book yet. They close at 5:30 and don't open until 9 am. I have tried a couple of times but long hold times have made me hang up.

Well that is GOOD news, I know since the time I booked the price has gone up and now the fuel charge.   What is CAS, I have not heard of that.   Good luck finding a deal, we all love them.   Let us know when you are booked, this time, I found the obstructed view was cheaper than the inside when I booked the Majesty.   I am in an inside handicap because of my mom.   Well good luck and do let us know.
