Decisions....

I do not know what to do.

We will leave Wednesday and driving to PC.  We will not attempt to drive the whole way since we will not leave until after 3 pm.

I know we will have to stay somewhere along the drive on I-95.  I do not know if I should use my points for a free night at one of the Hilton Brand Hotels or just pick a place to stay along the drive.

If I use points we are pretty much stuck with that hotel in that city.  DH likes to drive until he is tired.

Anyone care to give me their opinion.  Now I have opened it up, haven't I?

If you leave at 3pm, how long will you be driving before stopping for the night?
If you can time it to be around a big city when you get tired, I'm sure there will be plenty of hotels close to I-95 that you won't have a problem finding a room. For example.....it's about 4 hours to Charleston and 5 to Savannah from my house here in NC.
If you could drive to Jacksonville it's about a 7-hr drive  (from here) & there are lots of hotels at the airport exit. Then the next day would be a short drive to PC.

We used to go annually to Myrtle Beach from NY, starting back in 1966 when there was hardly an I-95.  Having to get off every so often onto that damn 301 and hitting all the traffic lights.

UGH!  Such memories.  Reading all those South of the Border signs. :shoot me:

But when 95 was pretty much completed, the journey was that less personal.  I'd hate to think what happened to those long stretches of highways that are now deserted, probably.

When I started going with the friends, then the babes, then the future wife, we pretty much still did the same thing, and stopped at exit 145 in Gold Rock, NC.

But that too became shabby.

It's been a while, but I got in the habit of making reservations at different points along I-95, and then cancel as I made my headway.

BTW, the life of cruising ruined my annual treks to MB.  Why be on a beach, when I can be on a ship.  And every once in a while when I do get back there, my heart sinks a little further, remember nothing higher than a 2 story building contrasting with the monoliths they are putting up now.

And then with the closing of the Pavilion, I can't even imagine going back.  That was the heart of the city, to me.

Now shoot me for changing an I-95 thread into Myrtle Beach memories. :nono:

:roflmao:          You are welcome to hijack any thread you want!!!!

Those South of the Border signs are still up!  I never saw that place in it's heyday, but it's almost deserted now.  Looks like an old roller coaster ride hasn't been ridden in years, the motels look like they're not even open and there's always very few cars there.
Too bad. It looks like it would have been a fun place to stop when you were a little kid.

I have never been to MB, but I hear it's very commericalized now.

I am hoping to make it to Jax and stay there.  Jeff normally drives until 11 pm and then we find some place off 95 to stay.

Now on to MB.  I love the place.  I have been going since I was a baby.  Dh and I still go and have a family trip planned for Jyly 4th week.  We were suppose to be there next week for Bike Week but some our friends are not going this year and we decided not to go.

I know.  We have stayed in that area before.  That might be where we stop this time but I would prefer to go on to Baymeadows area which is not much farther.
