we stayed at embassy suites, 17th street, fll (a hilton property), for our pre-cruise stay on liberty (date of stay: december 1, 2007). i would highly recommend this place. it wasn't cheap for us (around $250, plus taxes, i think), but others at the hotel got much better rates through on line web sites and last minute bookings. included in our rate (for an additional nominal fee) was transportation to the pier the next day. if you book the room w/ this service, you should sign up for a shuttle upon check in.
i think it might have been re-done recently. there is a 12 foot atrium, very pretty, and a nice sports bar.
every room is a suite, and has a separate bedroom, living area and kitchenette w/ sink, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, etc.
the pool is not that big, but is nice and has a pretty waterfall feature.
included in the rate is a breakfast buffet (a true buffet, including cooked to order items). since we arrived early, the desk clerk told us to have breakfast upon our arrival...so we got breakfast twice, at their direction -- once on friday; once on saturday .
they also have a complimentary happy hour from 5:30-7:30 which shld not be missed (yes, completely free. i cldn't believe what they were giving away). i think i had enough bottled beer to equal the room rate, lol.
we had a great time here. we met a couple at the pool who live in fla and came for the w'end for a short getaway. we had a blast w/ them, and plan to call them again the next time we cruise out of that port.

| Sounds like a great place. Glad you had a wonderful time. I like the idea of a happy hour and free breakfast is always good.

wog, it was awesome (and happy hour was packed) 40 guys on a road trip for miami/jet game, still no problem getting a drink. and, when they ran out of draft beer, they dipped into the sports bar's stash and started giving bottles of beer out until it ended.
btw, i appreciate the change in avatar. wrong gender though, lol (you were supposed to replace it with a hot "guy" remember?).

i remember before i left asking you about it and you said it was nice. it really was great. i wld stay there again in a heartbeat, even for the same price. it was well worth at the end of the day when you count up all the meals, drinks and transportation. not to mention that it was very, very nice.

We've also stayed at that Embassy Suites way back in Dec. 2003, and we scored
it for $64 a night on Hotwire. It has recently been redone.
Unfortunately, we can't get it for our cruise in April because the rates
are $330 a day, so we'll be trying the Renaissance which we got on Priceline
for $200. Very expensive that time of the year.

$330. now, that's pricey for a one night pre-cruise stay.

We have stayed at this hotel and loved it!! You can not beat the Happy Hour. When we were there they offered various wines, beer and lots of mixed drinks.

| Great to read so many positive comments. I'll be staying there in Nov with Bubba & Zone before our Freedom cruise.
