| It wasn't necessarily near the pier and it wasn't that cheap, but the Mariott is a beautiful hotel with great service, on the beach, beautiful pool, cute little casino, entertainment and nice restaurants. We stayed one day pre-cruise and one day post cruise and absolutely loved it.

| We stayed at one that changed hands since our last trip to San Juan. Can't even remember what it is or was, but it had a casino, was right across the street and down a bit from the pier and you had to have a key card to even use the elevator. Nice second floor restaurant with a balcony.

Might be the Sheraton. If I remember correctly that's the casino you can walk to from the pier.

Sounds like the Sheraton. Used to be a Wyndham.

| Yes! That's it! You two jogged my memory. It was pretty nice back then, but I haven't seen it since it became a Sheraton. The location was perfect for exploring Old San Juan during our pre-cruise stay.

| In September 2006 we stayed 3 nights pre cruise in Old San Juan and the Hotel Milano. We loved it! It wasn't the Ritz but it was clean good price and really neat atmosphere. The owner is very nice and all the staff will help you anyway possible. They also have free breakfast every morning on the rooftop restaurant, you can see the bay from the rooftop rest. On the day we left on our cruise the hotel staff held our bags in the lobby under lock and chain (literally) so we could go around sightseeing more before we went to our ship. The hotel was in a great location within walking distance to a lot of places. http://www.hotelmilanopr.com/ I also have pics from the rooftop if anyone wants to see some! Hope this helps.

| I think I remember the Milano from our walk around Old San Juan. I love the idea of a rooftop restaurant!

It is a good place to stay as well as a few others. Of course if going to San Juan during the high season, Dec 20th to about mid April, expect to pay a through the teeth. The Caribe is one of our favorites, we also like the Embassy Suites at the airport of the Hampton Inn there. They are less expensive than staying near the pier.

| For three nights at the Milano in Sept 2006 we paid aprox. $130 including taxes per night. That would be for my husband and myself in the room.
