You're right, though, no non-stops to either place from MHT.  We're waiting for Jet Blue from Boston to come out for our October cruise.  I've gotten so I'll pay a little extra for the non-stops, rather than dealing with changing planes, even if it means dealing with Logan.

If we have a morning flight, we'll usually stay at the Hampton Inn in Revere.  Their park & fly package is $159 including tax (through a company that we deal with...direct with Hampton it's usually about $179 plus tax).

Thanks Rich, good to know about the park and ride.  The car is safe there?  They have a shuttle too?

Where the hell is Shanafan?  She hasn't been around anywhere lately.  Her business must have really taken off.

Yes, there's a shuttle, and breakfast is included too.  We've never had a problem leaving the car there.

When you get back, you just call them from the courtesy phone near baggage and they'll come get you.

That might mean I could take an early early flight.  I was thinking of a midday flight.

Rich -

Who do you use or recommend for an airport transfer service?  We used Chelmsford Limo before and had a great service on the way in to Logan, less than stellar on the way back.  Grace is supposed to be pretty good.  McLaughlin, never had any experience.

Grace is good.  We also use Flight Line and haven't had any problems with them.

What time were you out? We stayed at the Betsy Ross Hotel (which I DON'T recommend). We walked across the street to the beach, didn't seem like the "South Beach" I had heard so much about. We walked past the Palms on our way to find something to eat around 10:30 pm and I know what you mean. It wasn't the big party that I expected it to be.  Our taxi driver said the parties don't usually start until midnight and go until about 6 in the morning. I was asleep by 12 (we had a 6:30 AM flight)

I'm now on a hunt for a cheap cruise for my sis's birthday.  Found the cruise and air, but we both have to fly in the night before.

I called the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay and the nice young man told me that Miami Jettours runs a hotel-port shuttle for $10 per person.  877-698-6878.

http://www.miamijettours.com/

This may be old news, but I haven't sailed out of Miami in ages.  Always FLL.

So, anyhoo, hope it helps.

Also, I found the Sofitel Hotel near the airport.  Looks really good, gets good reviews from what I can see, and it has a free shuttle from the airport.  This, plus the port shuttle is a good deal for just a one night at $105 before a cruise out of Miami.  The rooms have feather beds and duvet, which means pretty comfy, and the pics look good, too.

I need a hotel pre-cruise for one night and want to stay by Bayside. From earlier posts, the Intercontinental and Holiday Inn seems to be the best location for that. Has anyone stayed at either recently. How were they both in accomodations and price. We'll be there in August. Thanks.

Sorry I don't have recent info on the hotels. The Holiday Inn was very convenient to Bayside, just across the street. Prices were, at the time, reasonable and the hotel was clean. Cabs were coming to the hotel on a regular basis, but some people ordered vans to pick them up.

Generally when I fly into Miami the night before, I just stay at a hotel at the airport. They are usually cheaper and the one I stayed at the last 2 years has a free shuttle to the hotel and then to the pier the next morning.  Since I am by myself, I find that works better for me.
However, I know a lot of folks that have stayed at hotels close to the Bayside area. I'll try to contact them and get some info for you!

We thought about staying near the airport. That's what DH and I did last time but we arrived late in the day. This trip my friend and I arrive much earlier... like 12:30 ish so we want to be able to do something for the afternoon and evening and prefer walking distance attractions. Going back to last time when DH and I cruised, we got to the pier, the ship was no where near ready and so NCL provided vans to Bayside. We spent a couple of hours there and enjoyed walking around. It seems that this option would be convenient for my friend and I.

Thanks for checking with your friends!

We've booked the Holiday Inn, Bayside, for one night, October 18. We booked the same hotel for our last cruise. It is right opposite the cruise terminal, and there are plenty of cabs to get you the short drive to the terminal itself. We will be using the parking facility, so can't tell you how much the cab ride would be - but it really is a short hop to the terminal. The Hotel is reasonable - clean, a little dated, but very accessible. We enjoyed the Bayside Market Place. Good food and plenty of entertainment. We decided that we would book again because of its proximity to the pier. We are paying $199 for the night, ( for four people).
Hope this helps!

Thanks for confirming my thoughts. I did book the Holiday Inn and got it for $106 for 2 people. Decided to skip the breakfast package and do our own thing. I'm getting very excited and the time to vacation is moving so slow.

That's great! I think you did the right thing on the breakfast package. It was just okay iIMO.
